Engine runs OK but will misfire or cut out briefly, then run OK again. Suspect clogged injectors but could it be O2 sensor?

Yes and yes. the thing to do would be to drive with a scanner hooked to computer to see which cylinder is missing and also a fuel preasure gauge to make sure its not loseing preasure, also you can watch the o2 to make sure its working right and not cutting out or leaning fuel out , it can also be a coil or wire.ive seen crank sensors also do this.good luck hope this helps.

I have changed the plugs and wires ignition coil and cleaned the fuel injectors on my chevy aveo 2006 and it still had misfire codes on cylinder 2 and 3. what could it be? My check engine light burned out...

Try to disconnect the positive terminal on the battery for a minute to reset th computer. If the codes come back, then there is still a problem which usually is ignition or fuel (or bad O2 sensor). The car could run fine with a sputtering fuel injector but give misfire codes. If injectors don't give out a mist the cylinder doesn't burn the fuel all the way. If you replaced the ignition coil pack then get the injectors cleaned professionally or rebuilt.

If the injectors aren't working at peak capacity, then the air/fuel ratio will be off and the O2 sensor will try to compensate for the richness or leanness of the ratio by adding more fuel or cutting it. That could show up as a misfire.
SO you might have to go to a mechanic and have them check fuel pressure and test the fuel injectors for good spray pattern

Have codes indicating bank 2 running lean(po174,po153,po159) also have codes for misfires on all cylinders. Does the misfire trigger o2 codes or does bad o2 sensor cause misfires?

misfire could cause o2 codes. o2 sensors are measuring the oxygen in the exhaust - if you're sending unburnt fuel through there (like a misfire), it would throw the value way off. if you're getting a 'lean' error, I would first suspect a bad fuel injector. But you are having a misfire on all cylinders... I would then look at the ECU as it may be having issues sending the 'open' signals to the injectors.

I have a 2003 olds alero 2.2 ecotec engine, when first cranked the idle is fine, then die down the code shows p0300 rapid miss fires ,changed the plugs, switched out module, coil, it stiil does this, while its...

p0300 random misfire can becaused by a few different thing's - low fuel pressure or flow ,weak fuel pump, clogged fuel filter , clogged injectors , vacuum leaks , incorrect sensor input to PCM - mass airflow sensor or MAP sensor , TPS - throttle postion sensor , Hooking up a professional or factory scanner an viewing engine sensor data should be the first step in the diagnostic process , before ever replacing any parts . What are the fuel trims at ? Adding or taking away fuel ,O2 sensors switching normally ?

2000 lincoln town car runs rich, with alittle misfire. It idles high.

Probably a clogged fuel injector. Try some fuel injector cleaner or replace the injectors.Could be a lot of other problems too. Bad O2 sensor, bad fuel pressure regulator. Need to do more diagnosis.

I have a 97 k1500 that is burning fuel like crazy, it is running very lean, and seem to be misfiring often. I've change the spark pulgs and found that the entire left side 4plugs was black with suit. The...

If its burning fuel and the plugs are black with soot, then its burning rich. the codes you said are P0300 generic misfire and P1153 heated O2 sensor B2 S1, I would first suspect that O2 sensor. Bank 2 is the passenger side (right side) of the engine and doesn`t explain why the left side plugs are black with soot, unless you say the left side by looking at the front of the engine. If this is the case then definitely replace the forward O2 sensor in front of the catalytic converter on the passenger side of the engine.

Multiple misfire

Have your injectors tested and cleaned. You meay have a bad spray pattern on one or all of them. I have seen as many as six bad injectors on a V8. ALso you should be changing O2 sensors at 100k to keep the engine running top notch.
Hope this helps, please rate me highly.
