03 Duramax Allison Transmission. Sometimes when you start truck, there is no electrical to all gauges. But the truck starts and runs fine. No loss of power, no warning lights or anything. Just a black dash. Service has looked into the problems several times and claim there is no recall or bullitins to indicate a problem. We have checked fuses myself and they appreat to be fine. Will a transmission from 2003 duramax fit in a 2004 duramax?

They will deefinitely providing the 2 are the same model. In 2004 the Allison tranny was available in a 5 or a 6 speed. Before 2004 only the 5 speed was used. If one is changed for the other there will be shifting issues and codes set in both the ECM (engine control computer) and TCM (transmission control computer). Make sure you are putting in a 5 speed Allison tranny.

I own a 2006 Duramax Diesel 2500, with Allison Transmission and would like to know if I can tow this truck behind a Motorhome? Is there anything special I need to do?

Sounds like you should tow the motorhome with the 2500!!

seriously though, if it's a 4X4 make sure the front axle is not engaged, otherwise just make sure tranny is in neutral

just to be safe, check OM or nearest Allison warranty shop for advice

I'd be more worried about the motorhome drivetrain pulling that beast.....

01 duramax allison changed fluid and filters now in limp mode

Make sure you have the proper amount of tranny fluild in it and get that Valvoline fluid out of it. Allison transmissons have there own type of tranny fluid and you want to use it. You can buy the right stuff from a Allison dealer. Most Detroit Diesel dealers are also Allison dealers. Look them up in your phone book and they will tell you the quanity and sell you five gallon pails of the fluid. Just get the serial number off of the side of the transmisson before you call. Change the fliters again too. Believe me, this is important. My company has Yard horses with Allison transmissions and you don't want to screw with the small stuff. Service them right and they work as hard as you want.
