According to snow plow review sites, there have been no issues with that size engine and an 8 foot plow blade.

I have an 88 chevy blazer with a myers snow plow when i raise the plow all the lights go out and the motor gets real sluggish i have been trying to figure it out but cant can you help me please


snow plows use alot of juice check state of battery if battery good check altnernator output may need to go with higher amp alternator or add a second battery

first thing to do is clean all connections leading to plow power and grounds (all of them ) and make sure there tight clean battery cables as well

next thing i would do is have battery load tested as this is probley the main cause as alternaotr working so hard to keep up it takeing all power from motor

if battery test out ok replace alternator with higher amp alternator

if still have problem after all that add a second battery to truck

On my 1997 gmc truck when plow light switch is turned on one truck headlight goes out and plow light on that side comes on but other truck headlight stays on and that plow light does not come on..


This is just an idea, I may be wrong but any input is helpful, right? I would think that the switch that controls the plow lights is designed to alternate between the circuits for the truck light and the plow light. If the trucks headlight switch is turned on then the circuit is closed and turnes on the light. When the plow light switch is turned on it may cut the hot side of the circuit going to the headlight and engage the hot wire to the plow light. The headlight and plow light may share a common ground. If they don't share a common ground then the plow switch may cut the ground wire opening the circuit. If you can't find a solution you can always wire the plow lights directly to the battery with the same switch or a new toggle switch and then turn on the parking lights only on the truck. On most GM cars and trucks there is a space in the fuse pannel that is for a power accesory. It is basically a fuse slot that is empty labeled ACC. This is a 12V hot power source and you would run the positive wire here then ground the neg to the chassis. This way if you forget to shut off the toggle it will cut the hot when the key is shut off. When running the wire it is near the hood release able and you may be able to run the wire thru there and not drill a new hole. I've done this for neon lights under cars as well as stereo systems requiring an amplifier. If you drill a new hole even though its under the hood I would put a little blue RTV silicone over the new hole to prevent moisture from getting past the fire wall or road salt.

I have bought a minute mount 3 plug plow. The lights have power and are on. I try to the joy stick and the power clicks off on the stick. I tried to lift and angle the plow when the power on the stick...


It sounds like there is an in-line circuit breaker which is either defective, or not big enough or the motor is drawing too much amperage. Check with the manufacturer and ask the questions: what size circuit breaker should be used and what is the minimum wire size required. Check against what you actually have. You will probably find a wire hooked directly to the battery and the circuit breaker is usually located first in line close to the battery. Too small wire size could cause a fire.

Snow plows


Did you bleed the air out of the system?
Also your lights will dim when running the pump. I dont know off hand how many amps it draws but
it is enough to dim your lites. that problem is normal..
Only other thing I can think of is the cable running from your battery to your pump a battery cable or a thin wire. It should be a heavy 0 gauge wire or you
wont get enough amps to run the pump to its max

2002 Dodge 1500 quad cab 4x4 with 7'6" Meyer snowplow. Trouble keeping truck temp normal on highway. Any suggesttions?


your plow is blocking the air flow to the raditor thus the temp change. if it is running to high for you. install a 160 degree thermo stat. still warm enough but will lower the temp. it may be able to stablize the temp also at speed.

Ele. drawing for 1999 GMC truck have wheel chair lift on back kills the battery


If I understand correctly, the chair lift is killing the battery. Convert the truck to a dual battery system. GM has such a kit including the battery box and cables.It bolts in. It's the same system they use on their diesel engined trucks and a lot of guys who plow snow hook it up to run the plow. It will run off your current alternator and the batteries work on parallel not a series circuit. Hope this helps.
