Question about 1998 Mercury Mountaineer

1 Answer

1998 Mercury Moutaineer left in -11 Colorado weather over night, no pacipation, just cold. Wants to turn over but won't, lights work, radio works, engine won't turn over. Its 40+ degrees today and it still will not crank. New battery? Fuel Filter?

If it won't crank at all then battery is first thought but before you drop $100 on a new one, see if you can get it started with a jump start

Headlights won't work

Very much sounds like wiring. You can go to any local auto parts store and ask them to test your alternator output. You can check each fuse, especially the one for the headlights. I've never heard of a headlight/radio connection. I think I would start with checking alternator output.

Volvo 1998 S70 headlight and indicators won't always turn on

I have had this happen before - this is the multifunction switch on the steering column. The one on my Ford took about 10 minutes to change (two bolts). My problem - I would turn my lights off, then turn them back on and nothing, then they would suddenly pop on. after a bit my lights would not come on at all. I had to drive with my Flash to Pass lights for a couple of days when driving at night.

I hope this helps!

Right and left brake light out but center brake light ok on 2000 merecury moutaineer

Have you tried replacing the bulbs? The two side lights run through the turn signal switch so if they aren't getting power, chances are your signal switch is bad. Do your front blinkers work? Do the rear lights come on when you use the blinkers or the hazards?

Left over night-47 topaz will not turn over battery is good

Pull your plugs out and see if they smell like gas. If they do, put a new set of plugs in it, (if they don't, put them back in), hold the accelerator totally to the floor till the car starts, then back off the acc. Holding the acc to the floor cuts the fuel off to the injectors and it will help in starting the engine in cold weather.
