My car doesnt want to start intermittently

well in that case please look at the fuse for your starter , if there is no loose connection , consider checking ur starter brushes, it might be the time you change them with its selenoid, if its not the starter problem , but the engine doesnt start 1st time you start it, well i got bad news, there is something called the pick-up sensor on ur crank shaft that u need to further investigate and change it

I left my lights on came back out an hour later turned them off. Tried to jump it.It acts like its going to start but doesnt actually turn over completely.I took the cables off and attempt to start it...

Two solutions come to mind.

1) Leave the cables attached for a while before you attempt to start it. (Let it charge a bit)

2) When you go to start the car have the person giving you a jump rev their engine.

3) The obvious solution: New battery.

Hope it helps,

The 3.8 series 2 engine doesnt turn over with the

sounds like it needs an ignition switch. the reason it dies after a few seconds after jumping the starter is bc the security system from gm thinks you're stealing the car so it kills the fire. the security system goes thru the key so if the switch is bad, it wont run no matter how you try to crank it

Car doesnt start with new battery using the key

try resetting the security system, follow this procedure.
PASS LOCK RESET GM CARS 1999 UP
1) Put the key in the ignition and turn to the "ON" position. Leave it that way for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key and take it out. Repeat this process (2) more times (3 times, 30 minutes total) This should reset the passlock system to recognize your key.

1. is the engine turning over. If it is then you probably have a timing/fuel problem.

2. If all you get is a click sound and no engine turn over then flat battery could be a starting point.

3.if it starts and runs rough plugs and or plug leads may need looking at. Or maybe fuel injection system.

4.Not enough information to get more specific.
