Question about 2003 GMC Sierra 1500
2003 gmc 6.0 1500 HD 50k no oil pressure changed oil about 2 weeks ago 5w 30 and filter purolator 14006. while driving pressure dropped to 0
lifters did tick so Im sure gage is correct. oil level is still full and no leaks
It sounds like the oil pump,in fact, has gone out. When installing the oil pump,of course, the oil pick up tube, screen needs to be inspected,to see if it is clogged up,or maybe cracked in the tubing,or has fell off.In removal of the oil pan, inspect the main, and rod bearings to make sure they are not scored.

A couple of things, either oil pump (most likely cause) or the oil pick up tube has gotten clogged. Another possibility is that several bearings have spun blocking the oil passage (but rarely causes 0 pressure) sometimes it even reads high. I would definitely start with the oil pump and make sure you do not drive it with 0 oil pressure you will definitely damage the bearing, rods, lifters and will most certainely spin a bearing if not already causing low end knocking (or loose connecting rods).

Without inspecting the vehicle its difficult to say for sure ,but firstly put a manual test gauge on it ,the one with a pipe and no electrics ,if no oil pressure then only course of action is to change the oil pump,i honestly dont know whats involved in changing an oil pump on this type of vehicle as to if it can be accessed through the sump of if its bolted on the side of the engine .But as a precaution do not start this vehicle ,only for a quick test of the pressure with a manual gauge .Sorry i cant help as to how to change the oil pump or the oil pressure relief valve because i have never seen one here in spain.Another thing i have seen though on a engine and thats a ball bearing seal plug in the end of the oil gallery drilling pop out ,But?? as stated i have no experiance on this engine
