Check engine light on all codes indicate transmission problem. Transmission shifts fine once it gets going just a slight hesitation when turning corners and getting started.

I know this vehicle has an automatic transmission solenoid (a $15 part). If this is the culprit do you know if the transmission has to be removed to replace it.

Usually solenoids throw codes when they have problems. They are replacable. A shop would have to diagnose the problem to determine that it really is a solenoid issue or a wire issue. The solenoids are located inside the transmission,
This should cost around $300 or so to have fixed

Why is the sport mode light flashing on my 2000 Cadillac Catera?

Sport Mode Indicator Lamp and Automatic Transmission Warning Lamp (STL)
The sport mode indicator lamp illuminates when the vehicle has been put into the sport mode by pressing the "S" button on the gear selector. When this lamp is illuminated the vehicle will have slightly firmer shifts and increased performance for part and full throttle situations.
This lamp will also flash when there may be a problem with the automatic transmission. The transmission control module (TCM) performs a continual self diagnosis of certain control functions. The lamp will flash only when an error is detected. The TCM will store in memory a current and/or history trouble code when a problem is detected. I'd have it checked out !

P0734 Hyundai accent 2003

code p 0734 refers to gear 4--incorrect ratio===causes --wiring---TR sensor/ switch---shift solenoids---transmission mechanical fault
I would check the operation of the transmission ration sensor/switch first as that is the most likely place that the fault is
check engine lights are not solely for the engine but report on transmission problems as well
a transmission mechanical fault is the absolute last that you should consider because the transmission will revert to normal operations until it selects gear 4 which indicates sensor or solenoid problem

My van shifts fine into everything, but once i am driving it will not shift out of 2nd gear

I would bet the check engine light is on also?

The transmission will default into second gear any time there is a problem with the transmission, also referred to as limp mode. The engine computer will usually have a P0700 code which indicates there is a code stored in the transmission computer. You will need a higher end scan tool to read transmission codes or you can call your local auto parts store to see if they can read them for you. The codes will help narrow down the possibilities.

The two most common causes for this are the input and output speed sensors.

Transmission shift Engine has to be 2000 RPM for the Transmission to shift up you can let up it will change gears. Shifts fine hesitates very slight from direct to OD. Is 2000 RPM Normal

Check for vacuum leaks--especially along vacuum hose that goes to transmission or other hoses that connect near the port that the transmission vacuum line connects at the engine intake manifold. Please reply if you have more questions.

Check and see if there is a check engine light code on dealing with the transmission. If not you can have the tranny checked with a computer to make sure everything is working right, but it sounds like the shift solenoid for it is going out.

Slight miss in engine, hard shift from 1st to 2nd long 2nd gear

Check both O2 sensor(s) and catalytic coverter.. P0420 means catalyst below threshold. Also check the sensor at the transmission and solenoid.

Automatic transmission engine light is on car jerks back and forth and does not want to shift gears. You can rev the car in park but once in drive it will not go over 3500 rpms. Feels like it is gonna die.

Sounds like you're in limp mode. The transmission will do this when it has a problem that higher RPM might make worse - it's a protective feature meant to tell you that there's something signficantly wrong with the car. If it's a 96 or newer, go to AutoZone and have them scan for chassis/drivetrain codes - they should be able to do this (they can scan ECU codes easily), and it's free. If they can't do it, go to a shop and have it done, although you'll have to pay them to do it. They can tell you what's wrong. Until you have some codes to research, your best bet is to drive the car as little as possible so that whatever problem you have does not get worse. It could be low on fluid, or it could be about to die, but without the codes that are stored in the computer, which tripped the transmission light, we can't begin to help you sort out the problem.

Transmission Light and Braking problem

hello . did the dealer scan the vehicle anyway , if the light was on it should have a history code safe in memory and they should check for it . it does not matter if the light when out by it self ,it just means that the fault its not present ,(it sounds like a bad mass meter its a fuel manegement sensor that when it goes bad the transmision does not know the force created by the engine and therefore it cant shift properly)
