Question about 2000 Mazda MPV

2 Answers

I have a mazda mpv, 2000 ES. The engine is overheating, and the heater is blowing out cold air. Replaced the thermostat, and there are no visible leaks, aside from the overflow draining through the engine when it overheats. I think ive ruled out the radiator and water pump. What else can I look at?

Is there coolant in the oil? Also check for leak in the pipes located inside REAR passenger wheel well.

Check your heater hoses that connect onto firewall metal hoses they connect via a plastic connector , on my 2000 mpv they were rubbish and broke into pieces when I touched them . They could be the cause of a blockage ( the outside of connectors were fine but where it slides into rubber heater hoses they were crumbled and looked and felt like cardboard

How to bleed cooling system 2000 Mazda mpv es 2.5l 24v. That hasn't. Got a petcock or cap on radiator. After installing new waterpump and thermostat?

So the overflow tank would be pressurized with a radiator cap. This would no doubt be higher than top of radiator and engine .Keep filling it without engine running and heater on hot, then start up, when engine gets hot and thermostat opens, water should leave overflow and you need to top up as required.

96 Mazda mpv thermostat replaced hoses hot to heater box no heat still.. not overheating. only blows cold air.. help???

sounds to me that you have a vacuum leak at your temp selector, or a leak somewhere preventing you from switching from hot to cold. Problem problem with your hot/cold selector valve, or if cable controlled, the cable may have slipped off the seclector valve.

I have antifreeze in the reservoir just changed the thermostat and gasket, all the fuses are good and the blower works great on my Mazda MPV year 2000, but I still have no heat only cold air is coming out...

Air lock in cooling system not allowing coolant to circulate through heater core. Need to bleed air or burp air from cooling system. Look for a bleeder valve by the engine side of the upper radiator hose possibly or on radiator.

When driving, heater blows warm air. When idling, cold air.

check your anti-freeze level, I'd bet that you're a little bit low!

3 liter mazda mpv overheating

You probably never cleaned the cooling system out.

If you have not get it done by pros.

It seems something is blocking the flow. If the water pump went bad you will know. Rarely ever heard a impeller breaks off like you think. The bearings and the seal break first.

Check and see also if the heater valve is working.

As for the over heating even new thermostats fail. Reverse flush is needed or the procan measure the pressure in the radiator cooling system and edetermine if there is a engine pressure problem. Tools and experience is the key in the game of diagnosis.

2004 Mazda MPV cabin air is just not getting hot enough.

If changing the thermostat didn't work, have the heater control valve checked, it may not be opening all the way to let the coolant circulate thru the heater core fully.
