Hi there,

When it warms up the next time check the transmission fluid level. I suspect its running a bit low.

Best regards,
Mike

1994 Buick Regal Custom 3.8L motor is fine just the ****** will go 5 miles quit what causing this?

It sounds like the ignition control module or the computer. both of these can run fine until they get warm then quit. Autozone and Advance Auto Parts can test the control module for free and tell you if it's good or bad

No start after removing ignition switch and lock cylinder.

These vehicles have a built in antitheft system. When switching the ignition you interrupt this system. You will need to do a system relearn after the new ignition is installed. It will not start until the new ignition is installed and relearned. Step one. Put key in ignition, turn forward 2 clicks until right before it should start. Keep like that for ten minutes, NO LESS. Step two. After the ten minutes, turn key back to off position for 5 seconds. You need to do steps 1 & 2 a total of three times in a row without trying to start the car in between. The whole process should take roughly 30 minutes. After the last time waiting 5 seconds in off position, turn key forward and attempt to start the vehicle. Remember no less than ten minutes when forward, maybe do ten minutes and 15 seconds to be sure, some people even do 11 minutes.

1998 BUICK REGAL WONT START BUT DOESNT DIM LIGHTS

It's when the security light starts flashing that the infamous "chip" in the key becomes a nightmare to many. Gradually the car begins not cranking anymore or if it cranks it would start and die in a second. Randomly it will do this more and more often until it won't start anymore. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car
1st trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year. If its shuting down while running, im sorry i have no quick fix...

Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective. Until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out, then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.

Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. Took longer to find the thing than it did to fix the problem. For a list of cars effected by this problem. See the NEWROCKIES link on the right side of their page......... They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... Anywhere from 600-1000 bucks.

----- With this fix, you can take that whole Vats, passlock, passkey **** system out of your car all together. Good info on both sites

I recently bought a '91 Buick Regal Custom with under 60k. The first problem I encountered was trying to restart the car while the engine was still warm. The engine will wind when turning the key but...

Antitheft on my `96 sts has disabled the car from starting, drivers door has been tampered with and glass is broken out!is there a way to bypass the antitheft?

from what I am reading so far, the system may reset itself after some time goes by. Give it an hour or so, and I'll keep reading.

Replaced 96 buick regal radiator. Now the coolant

check the level of coolant sounds like you had a air bubble in the system and it finally came to the top.which means the coolant will be down.

Our 96 buick regal 3.8 seems slow to heat up. I've replaced the water pump awhile ago and then thermostat. Takes about 10 mins to show warming on the guage. I think I vented out bubbles in system properly....

Since you have gone through most of what I would have suggested, the only items left are a possible vacuum control at the heater hose or a partially plugged heater core.....
