Hi there,

Please follow the below steps -

1. Remove the door's inner trim panel by removing its mounting screws and pulling the panel off. On many models, the screws are under the door handle and/or pull handle bezels, which you must pry off with a trim stick. You'll also need to pry off and disconnect the power controls or remove the window crank by rubbing a towel in the crack to remove its clip.

2. Peel back the plastic watershield on the door. Make sure you don't tear it.

3. Disconnect the links that attach the latch to the lock cylinder and handle by unsnapping their plastic clips. If there are any electrical connectors on the latch--which there should be if the door has power locks--disconnect them also.

4. Unscrew and remove the three screws surrounding the latch opening on the outside of the doors; these screws should require a Torx wrench. With the screws removed, remove the latch from the door's opening.

5. Insert the replacement latch into the door and secure it with the mounting screws; use screws that come with the latch if any are included.

6. Connect the links and electrical connectors onto the new latch.

7. Reconnect the door panel in reverse order of removal.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

I have G6 convertible sensor "top not secure" warning on panel. However secure and working. The hard top just stopped opening. Please advise Deborah

Before taking this problem to the dealer, you might check this quick fix. I had the same problem on my 2007 Pontiac G6 Gt Convertible, and just resolved it.
First, you can access your trunk by disconnecting, and then reconnecting your negative battery terminal-this clears the safety code momentarily allowing the trunk to be opened using your trunk release button.
After you have the trunk open, check the wiring harness located in the top right corner of the trunk lid where the hinge is attached to the trunk lid. My wiring harness had come loose, allowing a wire to get stuck in the hinge, resulting in a cut wire-it was a red one. I spliced the wire back together, taped it up with electrical tape, and then secured the harness to the hinge assembly so wires couldn't come loose again. The problem resolved immediately with no further issues. Good luck.

BMW roof is stuck closed with only one latch hooked!

There is a compartment on the top center of the windshield. This contains a bolt that released the latches that lock the top to the windshield. It takes an allen wrench to unwind the roof latch and it takes an infinite amount of turns.

The top is controlled by you guessed it a computer module, have the dealer test that with a scan tool. The top is very complex in the control end, not simple like the old Mustangs I used to fix

When you put the top up or down, you have to keep your hand on the control until you hear a click and then a "beep". The beep tells you the latches are locked and the top is secure. It will continue telling you to check the latches if the manual lever/override has been pulled. You will know it if the back of the convertible top does not close completely - there's a gap at the back between the torrneau and the canvas top. This is the problem I'm having now...

I'd love to know how to reset the thing, but apparently only a Tech2 can do that. Another person has said that if you disconnect the battery for 24 hours, the computer resets to factory settings... cross my fingers.

One of the microswitches at the latches is not engaging stopping the cycle for safety reasons in case something is stuck, open the roof again and inspect the latch down areas for foreign objects or a misaligned microswitch.

You have a brand new car and you have a problem. You need to take it back to the dealer. Why void any warrenty if something actully broke. Something fell apart and they need to be aware of it.

This is why I have a BMW. We beamer owners don't have these problems with our cars falling apart. ;-).

I don't buy into that commercial that AUDI has comparing it to a BMW. A BMW is still the ultimate driving machine.

Just teasing you. You really should have the dealer look at this in case the other side has an issue also.

I just went through HELL because my top would not go down! I did EVERY possible solution with NO AVAIL! So anyway, Im in the trunk and noticed a baggy sack hanging in the trunk.. So I figured it was for the roof.. Anyway the sack has 2 straps to hold it up for more room when the top is UP. So I said "I Wonder...." I released the straps and the bag hung again, and GUESS WHAT? Yea the roof works!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soft top not working

It is never a good idea to unplug your modules with the key on you definitely can damage them. Hope fully your windows are not synchronized. See if the express mode up works. Try holding the button in the first detent and raise window and hold for 5 seconds. next see if the windows work with the 1 touch operation. It is possible that the module you unplugged stores the synch for that feature. The soft top module must know the window position in order to operate. Also there is a sliding cover that must be retracted in your trunk in order to operate top. The switch in the cover has to be depressed to let module know that there is nothing in they way of the top operation. Hopefully I have been helpful.

The problem is that your roof(SOFT TOP) lid isnt closing properly. If you open the roof lid you see there is a button on one of the latches that tells the car that the roof is securely closed if your roof lid is not secure the trunk wont open. To test this press down on the roof lid and the try to open the trunk.
