Make sure that the terminals are touching the bulb inside the socket. Sometimes the terminal will carrode and the spring inside will not be able to push out to the bulb to make contact. Otherwise I would check the brake light switch on the break peddle.

Check the brake light switch should be mounted on the upper brake pedal w/ a plug in wire. If it is shot, no brake lights.

Tail lights on left and right will not come on but when braking the brake lights come on.just no running lights to see at night?

Possibly the bulb type that controls rear braking/running/blinking is a bulb that has 2 elements/filaments. Unusual that on both sides that one of the two elements is broken. Pull and check the bulbs.

The back passenger blinker wont work and the bulbs

Different filament.
You have two filaments in those bulbs. A dim one for lights, and a second one that's brighter for directional and brake. You need to see if you have a good ground and both positive's at the socket.( with the parking and directional on)

The right rear turn signal blinks quickly in a

I believe this car has a rear bulb that has two fillaments, one for side lights the other shared for braking and flash. sounds like a blown bulb or a bad ground connection. Check the bulb and the bulb holder and ground connection.
Turn signal blinking quickly generally indicates a blown bulb front or rear or bad connection.

I have a 04 gti an at night when I turn on the lights the the tail lights dont work unless braking.the left comes on after like 5 minutes though. An im not sure how to replace the bulbs, looks weird n i...

Well the right bulb was burn out completely and the left one was partially burnt out,so that's why it worked after a while. I didn't need any tools I just unclipped the light housing and unscrewed the old bulb an put in the new.I googled it and found a good site that helped alot with pics and directions.

Hey Frank- yeah, my mechanic can't find the problem. He even unplugged the abs computer and it was still sputtering when you slow down and the reverse light seemed to still light up. are you talking...

Ask your mechanic to check the light bulb sockets and see if they are shorting out, if it set in damp weather it is possible for the lead on the bulbs to corrode and short out like your talking about, and have him check that all the springs in the bulb socket are still good and the rubbers are not worn out or shorted from one side to the other. a two lamp bulb looks like this on the back side 00 and it is made of lead solder and can vibrate and flatten out and cause it to short out and give you the same problem you are speaking of, I have found this on a few dozen cars and the older they get the more prone they are to have that happen. and as for the vibration you may have a tire that went bad have them rotated and balanced, it's worth a shot,

Turn signal light comes on when braking

Probably a bad grounding, causing the current to go other ways than intended i.e through other lamps. Check for corroded lamp sockets or bad ground connections in the tail light assembly, also check the lamps so they are ok.

Good luck!

Left brake light stays on

Usually when your signal blinks rapidly it indicates a blown bulb.   Switch on your four-way flashers and check your bulbs at each corner.  On the brake light staying lit, check to see if the left-rear bulb is installed correctly and is the correct bulb for the application.  I've seen people force bulbs in sockets causing the braking element of the bulb to light instead of the parking element.  The braking element is much brighter than the parking element.
