I've the same probem, it's been 'fixed' twice in the cars life but re-occurs.
I believe the throttle body gets 'gunked-up' possibly due to a faulty solenoid or sensor.
I don't have a full solution but will post when I do.
Means your anti locking brake system is disable, when the ABS light is on means the ASB computer pick up a bad signal from one of your ABS sensor's, any auto parts place like autozone can do a free code reading, once you get the code get back with us here at FixYa so we can help you diag. your trouble code, also your brake will work fine it be like a car with out ABS, get it check out.
You can scan for error codes. Many auto parts stores have loaner meter for free. Call around Advanced Auto, AutoZone, VIP, NAPA, CarQuest, etc.
You can check for leaks in the intake vacuum hoses and other connections. With the engine running use a can of carburator starter sprayed on suspected places and see if engine speeds up. If so you found the leak! NOTE: Do not spray starter fluid near or on hot engine parts or electrical elements, it will ignite very easily!
mcdevito75 here, It"s possible the alrm system and the back fireing are associated, specially if the alarm (security system) is factory (built with the car) BEST BET have an auto alarm shop take a look, most auto shops that do glass, windshield, doors etc. also handle alarms.
