I had an older model vehicle do this to me once. it was a baffle inside the tank that caused the problem. It came loose and was bumping the fuel pump. In another vehicle, again older model, it was gunk build up in the tank that caused the problem. I would check for both situations.

There are additives that claim they can clean it out but if you suspect you have contamination in the tank causing issues your best bet is to drop the tank and drain it. Let it sit for a day to dry out then use clean fuel or a mixture of fuel and Alcohol to clean and flush the tank. DO NOT use water as this will ruin the tank interior. Your local auto parts store may have some solutions you can use to clean the tank out once it is removed.

Have you checked the fuel safety cut-off valve/switch located in the trunk. I believe left side behind the carpet The safety cut-off switch will turn off fuel in a collision and sometimes for no reason.

2005 ford focus, the car will start and run for a few seconds then stop. The fuel pump does not come on

Are you missing anything else?
Engine cranking, do you have spark at the plugs and fuel injector pulse? The reason I ask, if your missing all three, have to check for rpm signal, comes from crank sensor.
As far as just the fuel pump, could be the pump--voltage and or ground circuit--could be problem with inertia switch--fuse.
Any applicable trouble codes? To check codes, yourself, at the least, you need an obd2 code reader.
I don't think it is your security system, my info says your security system will disable starter motor among other components. Make sure battery has a full charge.

Hey, I just replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter on my 91 Saab 900s and the care turns over but does not start or it starts for a few seconds while pumping the gas and cuts off when you stop the gas....

take out your shrader valve in the fuel rail and bridge 30 and 87 on your fuel pump relay. Run the pump untill there is no more air in the lines.

Fuel pump "mount" inside gas tank of Saab 900SE V6

To replace the fuel pump from above, without dropping the tank, you must cut your own access hole. Here is a complete illustrated tutorial for the procedure, including replacement of the pump insert itself.
