My night time running lights are constantly running when my truck is on. i have a 1999 silverado and it appears to have the auto light sensor. i wonder if that is malfunctioning.

they're even on when the parking brake is on. makes me think either the switch or the sensor is bad. i'm no mechanic so i'm guessing but it seems like common sense.

No malfuction. The light should not come on until you release the parking brake and then stay on until you turn off the ignition. It's normal.

On a 99 chevy silverado if equipped with auto headlamps there is a sensor on the dash near the front center of dash a small black bubble. If it is covered it will cause the lights to stay on. The day time running lights are typically seperate from the head lamps

1999 Chevy Siverado, no daytime running light lights and a constant dinging or chiming noise. Checked fuses and they all appear good.

Hi :) When your Day time running lights don't come on that could be one of the High beam bulbs are burned out or the emergency brake is on just anought to turn off the day time running lights which is the way they should work but some people don't reallize that the lighting system is ment to work like that.

THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I JUST CHANGED THE OIL AND THE TRANSMISSION IS UNDER 50,000 MILES. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN. IS IT A GLICHE; DOES IT NEED REBOOTING?

There are many things that could make the light come on. The most common is a faulty oxygen sensor. Take it to auto zone and have them run a free scan on it. keep in mind that the service engine light has to be on at the time of scanning or else the scan will not show anything.

I have a 2000 chevy silverado Z71. The drl quit

There is a light sensor that tells the truck if it is night or day on the dash. Make sure that is it not covered up. If is is not then you may have a bad sensor. It sounds like the sensor is telling the truck that it is night every time the truck is running.

Start the tuck with the park brake on to see if the light come on when it starts. If they do you have a bad relay if not it is most likely that sensor on the dash.

Daytime running lights

check the sensor on the dash that operates the headlights. If it thinks it's always night, then it will act that way. Check to see if it's dirty, or covered up, or such to begin with, if not, it may just need replaced.

Daytime running lights won't go on automatically anymore

i have had a few cars that have separate day time and night time lights. check to make sure you have just one or both. next often there is a fuse for both day and night lights. after that things get a little complicated you might have to have the sensor adjusted. that system is great as far as safety is but its a pain some times

Chevy truck running rough 150,000 miles

Find out why the engine light is coming on, it is the info u probably need to fix the running rough problem. Most auto parts stores will read the codes stored in your trucks computer for free, write them down, and ask what they mean and how to correct the problem. If u need more info, return to this site w/ codes for further help.
