Sir, I own a jaguar s-type 2000 4.0 runs very rough

Sir, I own a jaguar s-type 2000 4.0 my battery went dead and after 3 days i had it charged. the battery works fine but now my car runs rough as in if i don't keep a little pressure on the gas peddle it will stall. this was not happening until the battery died and it set for three days. I am stump why this is happening someone told me that some kind of computer codes didn't reload correctly so when my engine got more power back my whole car should have been reset back to factory settings. what do you think of this answer that someone gave me also if you think its possible this happened how can i fix the problem. thanks for your time D.Chivers Virginia beach, Va

Its not codes, what they mean is this. Your car learns how you drive, this information is stored in the Engine computers memory. If the battery is disconnected or is discharged, this memory is lost along with certain other operating parameters. One of the things lost is the "idle point" The cars computer should rewrite this information itself within about 50 miles of driving, if it does not, you may have to disconnect the battery again, leave it disconnected for about 5 minutes and then reconnect. Drive the vehicle to reload the lost information. Now, did you charge the battery whilst it was still connected to the vehicles electrical system..? If you did, you may have damaged the cars computer. This happens due to the higher voltage supplied by all battery chargers.. If disconnecting the battery does not seem to help, take the vehicle to a professional and have the cars computer checked properly.

OK, I would have the computer checked by a professional. Do a google search for a company near you that specialises in vehicle computers, sorry but taking it to your local garage may not be good enough and may cost you more in the long run.
Chargers can and do push over 16 volts into a battery during charge, espcially if the battery is very low and as most of the components inside the cars computer are only rated at 16volts, this can cause premature failure..
    Sorry for the bad news..

Why does battery go dead in two days?

If goes dead while driving not charging possible bad alternator. If goes dead regardless of driving probably a power drain somewhere. Easy way to test alternator is test battery voltage with a multimeter and make sure at least 12.5. Start car check voltage again and see what it is shot be around 14. If not alternator is most likely bad.

Try this before you do anything else. Charge the battery up and then after you charge the battery connect a known good jumper battery to the battery in the car as though you are jumping off a car with a dead battery.

2000 jaguar type s battery is dead after not driving car for 2 days

One possible cause is water in the boot well. It seeps into the wiring loom and shorts. This would drain the battery. If this is the problem, dry out the well and keep it dry.
