1994 Dodge Dakota daytime running lights (electrical problems)

Headlights are very lower than normal; at night they also start to blink on and off...then they will shut off after a while...Everything else is working fine, flasher, hazard, brake lights,ect..

Is it possible that i need to replace the headlight switch or the daytime running light relay sensor???

SOURCE: 1997 Chevrolet Headlight problem

We had the same exact symptoms right down to the clicking noise under the dash. A friend who is a mechanic provided all the wiring diagrams, etc and when we pulled the dash we found that there was another enclosure behind the dash.....we stopped there.......

....waited a few days, did some research and decided since a replacement headlight switch was about $50.00 the easiest route was to to swap that out hoping it would fix the problem....was also a very easy installation.

Turns out that fixed the problem. Good luck!!!

SOURCE: Headlights won't turn on. Daytime running lights stay on.

See if you can hold on your highbeams, as a temporary solution, until you can check and see if the fuse in the switch to turn your lights on is burnt out. I had the same problem with my car and apparently it was a defective part that GM had produced, but obviously they won't replace it free of charge. I would suggest going to an auto-wreckers and picking up a new switch there... the part usually costs around $400 in Canada.

Daytime running lights for 2002 chey impala don't work in the dark but work fine in daylight.

Its possible that this is a normal function for your car. They don't want you to use your daytime running lights at night because they are much dimmer than the standard headlights, so there is a sensor (usually near or in the windshield) that detects if it is dark outside. If its dark outside, the daytime running lights will not function, forcing you to use the standard headlights.

Running headlights not working need solution or is there a switch for lights

Head light have two relays.one for daytime and one for normal night. the daytime switching the light to serial circuit and if one bulb is out down both Leigh quit working. Inspect your light high and low beam for normal operation . Inspect your fuses . Swap the daytime relay with identical one.and under the dash is module for daytime running light. inspect the red/black wire for ground from light switch and light blue/ yellow for power from 15A ECU-B fuse
good luck

1998 Lumina lights don't work at night! The lights work during the day but not at night. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Theres a sensor in the middle of the dash by the front windshield that detects sunlight and triggers the automatic headlights. The main headlights and daytime running lights might be on a different circuit, in which case they daytime running lamps would turn off at night and the main headlights would turn on, indicating the main headlights arent working and the daytime running lamps are working as intended.

I would check all the fuses related to headlights, check the bulbs and check the switch, then last the light sensor on the dash.

You can bypass this, but you will need a schematic of the daytime running light module and lights.
You will have to cut and splice wires to bypass the module.

Headlights will not turn on, cant find fuses, everything else works

These fuses are located under the hood in a fuse/relay box. You may have a problem with the daytime running light module also. If the fuses aren't blown have this madule check.
