Check for a vacuum leak! It must be bad enough that the idle air control cant keep up with it and the engine stalls.

Good luck and be safe!

Car idles down when you turn defrost on

Check that you car is not climate control as this will turn on the ac compressor as well as the heater to give you controlled temp in the car. If that is the case the idle speed sensor and ambient sensors in the cpu may not be doing the job as the engine speed should increase to compensate for the extra load of the compressor. Have a fault code reading done.

My 1989 cadillac idiles low but once I turn the wheel it cuts off

remove and clean the IAC idle air control it is probably sticking and giving a low idle. or replace it if need be. it should idle at about 7-800 rpms, i think thats why it quits when you turn the wheel. it is putting more stress on the pump and the engine. check idle. Good-day !

Engine cooling relay pulls in when turning ignition switch on, fans do not come on. On fan control module on "main" fan there is a small guage wire in between the power and ground wires, by...

If you are having a problem with overheating then I would be worried about it I have worked on these types vehicles alot and most the time when you turn on the vehicle the fans dont normally kick in until the teperature rises then they will kick in just long enough to cool the engine down then they will turn off then the cycle begains again over and over so you see it is always that when you turn on the vehicle that the fans should turn on. Yes the ets or ects does send the signal to have the fans turned on but if the vehicle does not need to be cooled then they will not turn on. Try idling the vehicle long enough to heat the engine up to a temperature hot enough to turn the fans on you will see they come on then off DO NOT OVER HEAT THE ENGINE THOUGH.

Idling goes up and down

If the air conditioning is on, then the engines idle will increase when the air conditioning compressor cuts in, and slow down again when the a/c compressor cuts out again.
If your model has a heat switch, if this is on, then the engine will idle faster, until the engine temperature reaches about 50 deg C, then as the glow rail switches off, the idle also drops back to normal.

How do adjust the idle on a ford escape 2001 xlt v6 model Well the car doesn't move when you let the brake go until you push the gas. When i turn my heat or ac on the power starts acting up like the radio...

It sounds like your alternator or battery is beginning to fail. An alternator may provide enough power at idle when there is a low power load. Once you activate the heat or AC, the load is too much for a defective alternator to support.

Adjusting the idle is not the solution. Not only will it mask the electrical problem, it will prevent you from stopping your vehicle safely.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Cuts off when I turn the heat on. when the truck is idling or stationary and the heat is on, it will shut down. However as long as I am driving everything works properly.

I would guess your battery cables are loose or dirty, either at the battery or on the starter or ground. Either that or your alternater is on it's way out. It works fine until the AC pump cuts in,which takes a lot of amps, and it kills the engine.

I'd concentrate on IAC (idle air control,)motor, or AIS (automatic idle speed) motor. I believe on your vehicle, it's probably referred to as IAC motor, but either way, same thing, they control your idle during load conditions such as your experiencing. Have had good luck just removing it & cleaning the pintle on it & port (hole) that it comes out of with throttle body cleaner spray. If it cures it for a while, then starts to act up again, replace it. Should be mounted at front/side area of throttle body. be careful not to damage, or lose, "O'" ring at the base of where it mounts to throttle body. If you look the part up online at autozone, or pep boys, you'll know what to look for if not familiar with it.

Coolant temp is normal while idling, cools off when fans cut in

i would check to see if the stat is working right, do you have rear heat on this vech? . if you do you may have a air pocket, the windstars have a metal tube coning from the water pump that gose to the heater core lines for the rear heat and they like to fail. they get a pin hole leak that hard to find, the water pump also likes to fail also, not moving a enough fluid under load the ends of the inmpler wear down
