A/C and Heater probs on my 03 Malibu LS

The A/C button on my 03 Malibu LS blinks on and off in the summer when it's really hot. The only way to get it going is to open my left passneger window to create a draft and **** out the cold air from the a/c. If i use the ac with the recycle air button, the recycle shuts off right away and i have to keep it pressed in for it work. Now my heater is not working. There is no hot air blowing out at any of the dial settings. Can these two problems be related?

I own a 2003 Malibu and had the same problem. I found a fix online where you take the panel out, clean the contacts with alcohol and then take a #2 pencil and scribble some lead on the contacts then replace everything. I know it sounds crazy but it fixed mine. It started to do it again this year right before it started getting cooler out, so I haven't done it again, but will before it gets hot again. Can't say anything about the heat...mine hasn't done that!

It may be related especially if the problem is mechanical in nature. Normally there are panels in the AC unit that channels the air through the car. Have it inspected. Also have the AC cleaned out. This may also solve your issue.

No. The malibu engine is mounted sideways and the trailblazer engine is mounted longways. Each engine uses a different trany and are NOT interchangeable.

Entire dashboard has to be removed. Ac system may have to be discharged in order to replace heater core. Probably a 10 to 12 hour job.

2000 Lincoln LS V8 overheats frequently. I can start it up on a cold morning drive around the block and it overheats. I believe this to be a false reading, as I can turn the heater on high and it...

radiator is probably stopped up and when you allow coolant into the heater core which is a small radiator itself. it get sufficient releive to run normal. or your sender for the temp guage is bad and the car never is really overheating.

2003 MALIBU AIR CONDITIONER

Love mine too. I had the same prob with the a/c...found a fix online where you take the switch panel out, take it apart, clean the contacts with alcohol and then write on them with a #2 pencil (coat them with the lead) and then reassemble and it worked like a charm for me. Mine started to do it again this year, but it at the end of summer and I didn't get around to doing it again, but will before I need the a/c again. And time again for front brakes and rotors for me! 85k and going strong!

A heater core is located behind the dash on the passenger side. If you look under the hood you will see 2 heater hoses going to the fire wall again, on the passenger side, your heater core is located behind the hoses. You will need to take the dash loose or off to get to the air box the heater core rides in.
