How to Adjust steering gear box play demonstrated on a jeep cherokee steering box.
look on the back of the steering wheel for small screws holding the horn switch onto the side of the steering wheel you look at. generally there will be two screws and then a couple of snaps, pull it off and pull off the connectors for the horns switch. you will not be able to find a new one, and a used one will be as old as that one. So get a push button switch at a hardware store and wire it to the connectors and then screw mount it onto a spoke in the steering wheel and you should be good to go.
Id use some Lucas power steering fluid with stop leak and conditioner, works pretty well. If you cant get that than any power steering fluid will be fine
It can be done, but you would need to replace the rack and pinion, obtain the power steering hoses, the power steering pump, bracket and belt, from the same year, same motor pick up.
Start with the power steering belt it takes a 12 mm socket for the bolt in the power steering . also loosen the bolt on the power steering pump pulley. remove the radiator lower fan shroud. It just clips in. pull the power steering belt around the fan and out of the engine compartment then do the a/c belt. That is the best way I know how.
it is not very hard long as u buy a kit from the wreckers of the same model car and engine it will all bolt up make sure u ask for all the bolts as well make sure u have plenty of time up yor sleve
Had the same problem if you fill up the power steering fluid, jack the car up off its front wheels turn the steering wheel side to side a few times...check the ground for any power steering fluid, if you notice a leak you will need steering rack reconditioned or just the boots replaced..also belt may just have snapped.
