My sons car has no power. we have had the battery tested and it was low so we got it charged, then we noticed the 80A fuse was blown so we replaced it and it started up fine. This was about 9pm. The folloing morning after freezeing temps it will not start nor does it have any power. The entierior lights don't even come on. WHat could it be?

Something is draining the battery, what ever the fuse you replaced was running is the most likely the cause. Check the fuse, and see if it is blown again, or atleast check the system the fuse is connected to because something may be drawing constant power from the battery

The 80 amp is the main power supply for all the cars electrics so its a big current draw to blow that one .

When you look in the engine bay check the big wire going to the alternator has not rubbed through somewhere and is earthing out .

What is the1993 mitsubishi lancer charging system picture?

OK, the problem appears to be the alternator is not charging. With a multimeter, check on the alternator output lug for around 14Vdc when the engine is running. This same voltage should appear on the battery +ive terminal. If not,
1. Check that the multiwire plug in the alternator does not have any damaged wires. If so repair the damage.
2. The 5mm wire from the alternator to the battery runs under the radiator, and can get damaged. This wire runs into the main fuse box on the RHS engine bay. There's also an 80A fuse (BOLTED in place) in the fuse box. Check this fuse is not blown, replace if needed.

This means you most probably got your vehicle boosted backwards! Replace fuse and try to restart vehicle. Shouldn't have a problem! Seen this many times!

Replace the fuse and check the wire from the alternator to the fuse for damage. Also check the batterys before you change the fuse and after with the truck running with a volt meter. After the fuse replacement the battery should read 14 to 15 volts. Also check the fluid level in the battery. If the cells are low you can put distilled water in them to bring them back up to proper level. Hope this will help you.
