Dont think so its oil fed from engine .

Why is it that the oil pump of my toyota previa is not lubricating


Did you prime the new pump with some engine oil? Another trick is to use some light grease to coat the pump gears so they will seal against themselves. If you primed the pump and are sure the pump is working, you may have worn out engine bearings or some internal oil leak that is keeping the oil from getting pressure.

Tricky. If you're unfamiliar with the operation of GM cruise control systems, refer to a qualified GM technician.
Things you can try:
  1. Lubricate the actuator switch;
  2. Lubricate the brake switch (yes, the brake switch is in the circuit);
  3. Lubricate all actuator switches for the cruise control system at the steering wheel;
  4. Check for vacuum leaks, damaged vacuum lines, or other visible problems around the cruise control servo (under the hood).
  5. If your vehicle is equipped with a TRIP COMPUTER, and the trip computer is not updating mileage, replace the SPEED SENSOR.

Lost power steering fluid while fast driving , now have no leaks but hard steering and hard brakes


With no oil to lubricate the gears in the pump I would say that you will have to replace the power steering pump as it will be damaged internally. As to the brakes well that is a different problem and the thing that makes the brakes hard and I take that you mean hard pedal to push with little brake action is there is no power assist from the brake booster, Check for blocked vacuum line or faulty booster . If you mean that the pedal is easy to push but the car is not stopping then check the pad thickness and if under 3/16 thick have them replaced.

Hi my 2007 ford ranger 2.5 tdci (duratorq) has recently developed a high pitched squealing noise akin to a slipping drive belt ,which only occurs under load not at idle. no fault codes no excessive smoke...


Your water pump may need a lubricant. Water pump lubricant is added to the radiator.
When the weather is warm enough, and the engine runs hotter, then the thermostat opens more frequently, the lubricant will mix with the radiator fluid and circulate through the sysem lubricating the water pump.
I had squealing problem after changing the serpentine belt.
Tried changing idler sprocket, no difference.
I added the lubricant to the radiator, unfortunately the weather was cold, and the lubricant did not mix well with the radiator fluid, and did not circulate well do to cold weather and short drives.
Once the weather got warmer and the thermostat opened more often the squealing stopped.

Removal Procedure

Caution: Allow the engine to cool before servicing the secondary air injection AIR system in order to reduce the chance of severe burns.
1. Remove the clamp from the check valve.
2. Disconnect the AIR hose from the check valve.
3. Remove the check valve from the left side AIR pipe.
4. Remove the left AIR pipe from the exhaust manifold.
5. Before replacing a check valve, test the valve for proper operation.
5.1. Install a vacuum pump to the nipple side of the check valve, AIR pump side.

5.2. Pump the vacuum pump to 10 inches Hg and observe the gauge.

5.3. Replace the check valve if the vacuum bleeds down to zero within 5 seconds.


Installation Procedure

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

1.Install the check valve onto the AIR pipe.
Tighten the check valve to the AIR pipe to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
2.Connect the AIR pipe to the exhaust manifold.
Tighten the AIR pipe to the exhaust manifold to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
3. Install the AIR hose to the check valve.
4. Install the check valve clamp.

Need step by step inst. to replace fuel pressure reg.


  1. First, you will need to depressurize your fuel system. Remove the Fuel Pump Relay, start the vehicle and run until it shuts off, should only take a few seconds.
  2. The Fuel Pressure Regulator is held in place on the Fuel Rail using a Retaining Ring, or Snap Ring.
  3. You will need to remove the Vacuum Hose connected to the Fuel Pressure Regulator before you remove the retaining ring.
  4. You need a pair of Snap Ring Pliers to remove this retaining ring.
  5. Once the retaining ring is removed, slide the old Fuel Pressure Regulator out, and install the new one. Lubricate the O rings on the new part and the fuel line before assembly.
  6. After reinserting the Snap Ring, ensure that it is snapped in place completely.
  7. Reinstall the Vacuum hose and reconnect your Fuel Pump Relay. Turn the Ignition to On, and check for leaks around the Fuel Pressure Regulator.
  8. If no leaks are found, proceed to start the vehicle.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Drain the cooling system.
  3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  4. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Hood
    • Accessory drive belts
    • Accelerator cable
    • Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve and hose
    • Air intake duct
    • Fuel pressure regulator vacuum line
    • Canister hose
    • Brake booster vacuum line
    • Engine wiring harness connectors at right wheel housing

  3. NOTE: Lubricate the cylinder head bolts with clean engine oil for assembly.
  4. Install the cylinder head with a new gasket. Tighten the bolts in sequence as follows:

    Power steering pump blew a hose off and now whines.


    Have you checked the level of fluid in the pump? If it is full, you may have damaged the pump with it ran low. Try a Power Steering Lubricant first but if it is full and still making noise it is time to replace.

    There are a few models that use the power steering pump at the booster for the brakes, but I doubt that yours is that. Look at the brake master cylinder. If it has this big round black drum, you have a vacuum assist and there is no correlation. If it has a couple of hoses going to an item behind the master that look like the hoses on your power steering there may be a correlation. Most of the diesels had the power steering booster.
