Question about 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

1 Answer

We are having couple of problems with the Automatic climate control. First it does't work when the car is very cold. It only blows air out the rear vent.( I understand that their is a delay, but long after the delay counts down it still does not work) We then turn off the automatic climate control, and the air will the start to blow out the front vents, but sometime it won't and we have to let the car idol for 20 minutes before the air will start to blow out the front(very sporadic). Secondly, the AC is always on, we turn it off and the automatic climate control turns it back on, and it's only 20 degrees in the car.

The only way to accurately access this condition is with scanner and testing.

You could have a AC relay that is stuck on. Its located under the hood. Just remove it for now and see if the heater issues change. Its located in the fuse box

If you have owners manual check that your climate control settings are as you expect them to be, if that makes sense. Some on Fixya do not realise they gave climate control , they think they have normal A/C and try to correct chimerical problems. Please check and repost

Why is my rear climate control blowing out cold air only and not heat.

If the front one is working fine, that means you have a flap actuator problem for the rear or bad therm device.

05 YUKON REAR HEAT NOT WORKING

Rear heat not working ? The blower motor isn't working ? No air coming from the rear vent's ? Is it just a yukon or XL or denali ? What size engine ? 4.8 , 5.3 or 6.0 l Manual or automatic climate control ? Does the blower motor work on any speed ? The front an rear heater system are seperate , have there own electrical circuits . Could have a couple of different systems ,could have a control processor or relay's an a resistor block . Do you know how to test automotive electrical circuit's using a wiring diagram and a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Plus to get at the rear heater-A/C unit you would need to take the right rear trim panel off .

It sounds like the system is fried. Based on the description, it is just pulling in the outside air and not doing anything to heat or cool the flow. Unfortunately, this is a job for your preferred mechanic.

My climate control only blows out cold air but the rear climate control works as it should

Could be the controller or a faulty blend door.
The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and evaporator along with the vents. The controller uses electric motors to change the direction of air flow.

Rear climate control fans blowing cold

That sounds to me like your vent "tubing" is disconnected somewhere along the line. I am not sure exactly how it is set up in the vehicle you are driving, but I am certain fixing it will involve taking apart most all of your interior then putting it back together after a 10 minute fix.
