The engine coolant tempurature sensor may be failing, the reason why truck stalls when light comes on is that the pcm thinks there is still a problem, then shuts down. after replacing sensor erase problem code with a obd2 scanner. if you do not have access to 1 you can go to any auto parts store and they will turn light off for free.

P0119 Cadillac Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Intermittent
Possible causes - Low engine coolant level
- Faulty Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor
- Faulty engine coolant thermostat
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor harness is open or shorted
- Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical circuit poor connection What about the obd code? The Engine Control Module (ECM) detected an erratic signal from the engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor during the system monitor test Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light) P0119 Cadillac Description The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is used to detect the engine coolant temperature. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from the Engine Control Module (ECM). The modified signal returns to the ECM as the engine coolant temperature input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases as temperature increases.

How to repair P0125 for 2000 Mercury Mountaineer

P0125 OBD-II Trouble Code Technical Description Insufficient Coolant Temperature For Closed Loop Fuel Control What does that mean? This means that the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor indicates that the engine has not reached the required temperature level to enter closed-loop operation within a specified amount of time after starting the engine. Symptoms You will likely not notice any drivability problems. Causes A code P0125 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: Insufficient warm up time Low engine coolant level Leaking or stuck open thermostat Faulty coolant temperature sensor Possible Solutions The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. If the code comes back, the problem is likely going to be the result of the above causes (faulty thermostat, faulty ECT sensor, or a low coolant level). I have a 2007 Chevy Expreess 1500 van. When ambient temperature drops below say 80f outside I get a P0128 check eng code. If during the day the ambient temp raises above 8-85f the light will go out...

P0128 is a generic code to indicate that the engine isn't reaching proper temp. If it has
the Vortec 4.3 like my S-10 is (I am having a similar problem). Check the overflow
tank as the tube will come off and allow air into the system, also check the radiator
coolant level under the cap. The third item is the intake manifold gasket, check for
seepage. If all these things are good I would replace the thermostat (my S-10 had one
sticking which could actually be seen on the temp gage, it wasn't reaching the normal
195 degrees). If you have the temp gage on your dash watch for low temperature to
indicate a bad thermostat, luckily it sounds as if yours is sticking open as mine did.
Hope this helps.

1999 VW Bug Service engine Light

When you say water light comes on, do you mean coolant level, or coolant temp or ? Check coolant level and top off if needed. Bring the Beetle to a parts store, most offer free check of check eng. light. They will plug a hand held scan tool into the cars diagnostic port (usually located under the dash) and 'read' stored engine codes in the cars computer. They can tell you what the codes mean, and suggest what to do. If you have further questions, post them here along with the code numbers.

Temp sensor needs to be replaced

this does not mean the sensor is defective, it most likely means the engine thermostat is stuck open and the engine is not running hot enough to satisfy the computers preset temp requirements for minimum eng operating temp.
