Heavy carbon would absorb fuel on cold start , causing extended crank, rough idle cold - possibly stalling ....my condition is only warm /hot and we swapped fuel pump, regulator - so we seem quite sure it is electrical , looking carefully at Idle switch ... mass air is proven good , Tps as well, PCM was re-flashed at dealer as per service bulletin from hyundai... one thing - proble dissappears when tps disconnected , but tranny wont upshift past 2nd ....... no ses lite either way (hooked or unhooked) we are swapping out idle switch to try this , otherwise I would be seriously looking towards PCM .....

it appears idle control switch is issue - swapped out with used - seems changed - reset tps because car still hunting idle but 300 rpm higher . So stallin was eliminated .

Resetting tps a bit seemd to settle idle , small road test with engine at temp - no problems noticed , gonna let car cool, retry .... I have played with this so long I wont believe its fixed ....finally . possibly !

Pretty bad when dealer cant find the issues... G

Have u cleaned the idle speed control valve and the throttle valve? this is the number cause of this next is the ECT sensor, try the cleaning, 90% of time it works. if this doesn't clear the problem have the idle speed control air-bypass valve replaced (IAC for short)

.
Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

The two major problem are intake manifold gasket leak and vacuum line leak. This will make the car ran lean.

Rich running can cause by old air filter, old injectors, worn injector o-rings.

I would ran two tank full of Chevron with Lucus fuel injector cleaner.

This is take care of uneven injector spray pattern.

Lucus FI will take care of the carbon deposit inside the engine head.

Please rate my answer if it's useful to you.

Your transmission require the ohm reading from the TPS to shift.

    Do not disconnect the TPS.

    =====

Can you ran some fuel injector cleaner like Lucus?

Even 1/4 of a tank and low rpm.

Idle to 2000 rpm for 20 minutes.

    Just around the block.

1994 chevy c 1500 shuts off everytime i stop

Possible TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) issue. The TPS controls idling speeds under all conditions. Although the truck may idle fine when cold, once warm, if you are encountering sputtering or stalling, the TPS could be the culprit. Other possibilities could be fouled spark plugs, bad wires, or a bad distributor cap.

Car barely holds an idle and sometimes stalls when coming to a stop

There could be several causes for your stalling problem.
  • Bad plugs
  • Bad wires
  • Clogged fuel injectors
  • Bad MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor
  • Bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
A basic tuneup would rule out the plugs and wires. Fuel injector cleaner will clear most clogged injectors. Once ruled out (or if the car is running smooth apart from stalling at a stop) the most common problems are MAF and TPS.
The TPS in particular regulates idling speed under all conditions. Included in this would be while the engine is warm. If your car wants to stall unless your foot is on the gas, I'd lean toward the TPS.

My 1999 caddilac eldorado feels like it wants to stall while in gear

Several conditions could be the cause of your problem.
  1. Bad MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor - often responsible for erratic idling
  2. Bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) - controls idle speed under all conditions ie warm, cold, + with A/C running.
It's possible to diagnose further by getting a diagnostic test done. Most chain auto parts stores will run a free diagnostic test to obtain a OBDII code (these codes specify which components are either failing or not responding) It is possible that a combination of both the MAF and TPS are contributing to your problem. If the car will idle when cold and only wants to stall once warm and under way, it's more likely than not to be the TPS.

Fuel injectors go bad on these engines, you can find re manned ones for 30 bucks. If you have an engine light on get that read. Change your coil/wires/plugs also. Is the lower intake manifold gasket leaking coolant yet? You may want to get that replaced also. Check the TPS too (throttle positioning sensor) those will also cause your engine to act up

Stalls when you let clutch out not opperator error, erratic idel have changed tps,egr sensior, idel air controll sensior,no vaccume leaks, good power once rolling, will surge on highway, replaced fuel filter.

How about replacing plugs, wires, distributor cap. one way i check to see if my wires are bad is to turn on the car/truck at night(no lights) and check the wires to see if they're arching to the engine block. if they are, time to replace. other than that try replacing intake manifold gasket.

Higher octane gas 93 with some good octane boost in the black can at autozone cost about 7 dollars or a bottle of 104 octane boost. Change the fuel filter. Probably only one coil pack is bad. The OBDII reader should tell you which one was a misfire.
