Hi:
You have to remove the timing belt to change the water pump, and if the belt has been on a while, it is smart to change it too, if you are planning on driving the car for a while. If you have never changed a timing belt before, a good investment would be a subscription to : www.alldatadiy.com For about $20, you get a wealth of knowledge about your automobile.

How change the waterpump toyota corolla 1997car

This is a BIG job, requires removing drive belts, timing cover, timing belt and tensioner, probably the valve cover, in a very tight space. And obviously replacing all those items and timing the crankshaft/camshaft. There are some videos on YouTube that show the process - search in YouTube for "toyota corolla water pump replacement".

No damage will occur. This is a non-interference engine so all you will have to do is make sure the timing marks on the cams and crank are set properly.

Humming noise and wobbling pulley 1995 Corolla

Maybe, you would have to remove the belts and then take a look at all the pulleys, it could be a pulley or a bad waterpump, or even something in the timing belt, like a timing belt pulley or tensioner pulley or waterpump, the best way to find out is to remove all the belts and then start the motor and listen for the noise, if the noise is still there with the belts removed then its something in the timing belt, but is the noise goes away then its something with the belts a pulley or a alternator, you would have to inspect all pulley and the acc, hope this helps,

Click on the following direct Link. It has several Diagrams for your Timing Belt, including the Marks.
One Diagram has the Idler Pulley Tensioner which must be loosened in order to remove the Timing Belt.
