Why does the freelander not want to engage in gear after removal of propshaft when doing convert from 4wd to 2wd ??

You don't say what year but it has a viscous coupling in the gearbox and cannot run with a shaft missing. Its in gear but can't move. Look up freelander owners info online at a thousand sites. Or give more info as to why you want to run 1 prop?

Mazda bravo b2600 gearbox growles and grumbles. cant select 2nd or 4th gear. 1st, 3rd,5th & reverse ok.

I am sorry to tell that the gearbox need to have some major repair. It is also not advisable to continue driving as the gearbox can breakdown completely leaving you stranded. At least one the cluster drive gears in the gearbox is damaged (gear tooth stripped off) that will result in that only some of the gears being able to be selected. The broken off tooth are still in the gearbox and due to the oil movement in the gearbox it can be "washed up " in between to engaged gears destroying those as well. This will happen up to the point where there are no gear selection at all.

Citroen jumper gear change

Your description makes me remember an old Austin Metropolitan I had once. The gear linkage was crude and it was possible sometimes to engage two gears at once resulting in a lock-up and a stalled engine. It never happened while driving at speed.

When repairing a gearbox, once the selector linkage has been removed it is usual to select two gears in order to lock the shafts for the tightening or loosening of a retaining nut. There is built into the internal selector linkage an interlock to prevent two gears being selected.

I imagine that interlock in your gearbox is worn or broken...

Range rover sport stuck in low ratio

Disconnect the ratio motor plug/socket on transfer box, apply 12v to the motor wires & it should motor back & forth from low to high. If it does, leave it in high, so at least you can drive it normally.
Plug it back in and remove the gearbox ECU from under the seat, check for damaged power transistors. Repair or replace.

Problem changing gears when hot. ok when cold!

It will be best to get someone to check the hydraulics of the clutch. That is a common issue.
Get a workshop to drain the gearbox oil and flush the system. A tell tale may come from the drained oil if the tranny is near end of life.

Jeep wont go drive forward or reverse

Either the clutch or torque converter, most likely the torque converter, also check the gearbox fluid level and slave cylinder.

4th gear not working on 1996 land rover dicovery, just revs up when you engage the 4th,all other gears o.k. anybody help.

A common fault on the early R380 gearboxes was the 4th gear baulk ring. The slot locating the synchro slipper wears and allows the baulk ring to rotate too far. This blocks the synchro assembly. It will be necessary to rebuild the gearbox, and replacing the baulk ring with a later type will eliminate this fault.

Rover Gearbox stuck

if this is an auto tranny, you may want to make sure this is on driv. possible causes of this is the transmission solenoid or the gear selector as it is stuck on reverse. best if you will have it checked by a professional as the location of the parts mentioned is hard to reach without specific tools.
