If you are losing coolant, more than likely you have a leak somewhere. a small leak can be almost impossioble to find without putting the coolant sytem under pressure. Unfortunately, if you cant find the leak yourself you will probably have to take your vehicle to a shop. A prssure test will probably run you between 25.00 and 40.00 depending on the shop.

I have a Ford Focus 2.0 litre zetec engine on a x plate. When I start it up from cold it bellows out white smoke for about 2 mins then clears and is fine until the next day. It is not losing water and is...

White smoke on start up of a cold engine is water vapour created by cold moist air and hot combustion ( steam). Mostly all cars will emit a whit wispy smoke until temperatures are elevated enough for the cat converter to turn it in something you cannot see. To be sure have a compression test done to check for gasket and have a coolant system pressure test done to check for coolant leaks

There is brown sludge in radiator what is the cause do you think

The sludge is due to rust in the cooling system due to lack of maintinance, you will need to have the system flushed, you will need to remove the upper and lower hoses from the engine and run the water hose through the radiator first, you will need to do this a few times, then the next thing would be to remove the thermostant and run water throught the engine, the water will go in from the top, star the engine while water is flowing through the engine dont let engine run to long it will overheat, let it run for about 2 min at a time, then with the thermostat out install the housing and connect hoses, pour some cooling system cleaner into radiator and run engine for about 20 min, then flush out again, then refill and run again with water and then drain it out and fill with coolant, make sure that the coolant is mixed 50/50 coolant and water, you will notice that after it runs for a while it will turn brown again due to build up in radiator and engine, there is nothing you can do about that but atleast the coolant will be good and stop the internal gaskets and radiator from rusting out, you will what to do this again in 6 months to get it cleaner. good day. hope this helps.

My temp gauge says hot and fan comes on but engine is not hot and now steam is coming from under hood and water is bubbling in the bottle!! is a ford mondeo 16v zetec 2.0 no loss of power at all and bonnet...

the thermostat is stuck closed and not allowing the water to circulate the fans are coming on beacuse it knows the car is overheating.

although there is water in the engine it is not getting around to cool the engine down, do not drive the car as the head gasket will blow.

I would check the thermostat first but it could be a few things, most likely thats the issue.

Hard starting my 04 mondeo (1.8 zetec )

Hi ,
first you need to have the car diagnostic codes read to see if there is anything obvious the ht leads do break down and the crank sensors are known for failing,is it worse hot or cold?,it could even be you beating the immobiliser,if you next time wait for the red immobiliser light to go out before trying to start the car and the problem does`nt happen you have a failing Transceiver problem .
