It sounds like something is shorting or grounding out. If the temperature was affecting the pump itself, it would mean that water was freezing it stationary, which water in the gas is a major issue in and of itself. Most likely, there's a wire that's loose or corroded and it's intermittently causing malfunctions. The pump could be going bad as well, and is pretty likely. I personally do not suggest working on items as sensitive as a fuel pump unless you are a bona fide mechanic. A repair shop is most likely the best solution.
Sorry! No easy fix today... hope my answer helped you out though!

I saw what you replaced, didn't see any testing? What testing have you done? Make sure battery has a full charge?
When the problem is ongoing, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes?
If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems.

You may be having an intermittent failure with the fuel pressure regulator - checking the fuel pressure when the truck won't start may pinpoint this problem. If the pressure looks OK, this same problem can be caused by the ignition system as well (ignition coil or control module).

check your pump if you replaced the pre pump in your fuel tank you must check the seal .remove the plastic ring check the base at the entry to your pump is flat .it may be leaking air due to your seal not seated in correctly.

its possible it could be the fuel pump have the pressure and the fuel volume checked with a gage and see how much the pump can pump gas in about 15-20 seconds, and compare to specs.

You say you replaced the fuel pump relay switch? The fuel pump relay is located in the passenger compartment on the right side under the dash. Little black box with a 6 pin plug. Replace that and your power to the pump should be restored . Had this happen on mine just last week. The relay actually monitors the alternator, key switch and a couple of fuses and will remove power from the pump if there is a fault. AutoZone stock number is 20550, costs about $50.

Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles or once a year to ensure the fuel system is running 100%. Auto Zone will have the fuel filter and can give you the step by step instructions to getting the job done with common tools. If it's the fuel pump failure, you have not gotten the car restarted. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your car running 100% again soon and please rate.

I have, when I first bought my 02 Liberty. It ended up being a faulty ECU. ECU is the computer brain that controls the whole car. I had it replace and it never happened again.

I think your problem might be your fuel relay which is situated next to the fuse box in the engine compartment.
