Gfs car was lacking power big time seemed like an electrical or timinmg issue so i yanked off one plug wire from the coil no change in sound, yanked the one behind that same thing(right hand side of coil looking aft.tryed the same thing on the left side and either wire pulled killed the engine so i go buy a new coil from ford thinking its defective but it does the same thing so i pull the plugs they are fine.Im not getting fire on two cylinders and my coil and plugs/wires are fine....what is my problem??

problem solved traced wires back feeding the coil one was chaffed off where a polution pipe had rubbed thru the plastic conduit and thru two wires soldered and heat shrinked...poor engineering to chase wires in such a spot now proteted with a heavy piece of rubber hose.

It does sound like you have a plug lead out take one off the spark plug and plug another spark plug in to it place the plug to earth and crank the engine over there should be a spark there
also get a compression test done because if there is a brake in the head gasket between 2 cylinders then it will run rough and possably misfire

Bad gas or diesel in tank???

don't ever replace the fuel filter. only if it has lack of power on highway speeds.

How to test a ignition coil

you need a meter and test the coil 20 to 40 min after it has had power in it. but if its ruff idling and lacking power it could be the timing is out. or a bad plug lead or spark plugs. you not said what car it is. get your self a timing light. mark the timing marks on engine with white paint and plug the timing light into spark plug one and run engine the light should light up on the timing mark on the big end pulley. if not adjust the distributor till it lines up and then lock it off. also points in the distributor may need adjusting or replacing if there is not much left. and the cap as well you will prob find it is the points need changing.

Hi. I have a 99 camaro 3.8l and I'm having some

Sounds like a fuel problem,You did the coils, plug wires and sparkplugs, that should of taken care of the misfire,You may have a EGR that stay open and doesnt close properly and it doesnt set a code why the ECM compensate for the false air.Now this causes rough idle, and smooth cruise with no misfire until you get to stop or idle speed. The map sensor this can also fail when warm especially if the vacuum it is suppose to get is not met. And a failing MAP causes a lack of power. A TPS failing causes a stumble and lack of power but no misfire.cansmo_184.gif

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Check your fluid levels on the car. One may be low and causing that sound you hear. More then likely, it needs a tune up. Change the spark plugs, wires, coils, coil pack, and distributor cap. Change the air filter and the fuel filter. Check for vacuum leaks on the engine. Change all your fluids. This will help your car a lot. Spark plugs will help your gas mileage a little, as well as the lack of power. This will help your car greatly.

Check the wiring connector on the coil. It may be loose. This really does sound like an issue in the ignition electricals similar to an issue I had with my 95 S-10. The coil itself had loosened as well as he wiring to it.

I would pull the sparkplugs and examine. Are they Black? ,Wet?, Hot?, Cold? Also whenever you change the plugs change the wires (cap and rotor if app.).Cracked wires are hard to see but can cause spark to find ground before it gets to sparkplug.8 year old car how many full tune ups?.Good Luck.
