The sensor is part of the ignition key lock cylinder, so the part and labor will be around $200-$300 depends on your local labor rate, the dealer must do this repair because the new lock cylinder key code must be programmed into the VATS module.

How do I bypass anti theft on 2004 Ford explorer

There is no reset button on an OEM system. Instead of trying to disarm the anti-theft, arm it, then start the car. Press the "Lock" button on the key fob, put the key in the ignition and see if that works.

Bypassing anti theft on ford explorer

When i changed ignition on my 99 explorer i took the original key and taped it to the transponder receiver inside steering column. If u have it in the correct area u can use your new ignition and it will start without any programming hassle.. Also way cheaper to get other keys made!!

Will changing my steering colum fix the theft light problem of it not starting

I don't think so. The theft light problem has to do with the microprocessor in the key being programmed into the computer by the dealer.
