I had a problem not unlike this in my santa fe 1.9td uk spec.
my car had been sitting for a few months and when i returned to drive it again the same problem came to light.
i also rep[lsaced the key fob.
it could be one of two things.
firstly the systen might neen re-set. if you disconnect the battery for 2 hours then attach ti again it might work.
if this fails it might be the actuator in one of the doors. if it is faulty then it only semi closes the lock, but it then thinks that has to lock again. and locks the door.
hope this helps.

typical dealer--don't care--would be very suspicious of what you bought
However go to a service dealer and ask how to get it open
could be a fuse or cable problem

Hard starting.

for starters you need to use the remote to open/close the doors or the engine will not recognise the key.you will need to check compresion (min 170) and put car on diagnostic computer.
my advice is GET RID of the worst car EVER to come from korea.even dealers will not buy them......16mpg is good ,worse is about 8mpg.....I USED TO WORK FOR HYUNDAI.(if you paid around £500 then what the hell)

Hyundai santa fe 2002 remote key fob locking ok but fails to unlock. suspect micro switch faulty. can it be replaced?

Do the doors lock normally when using the manual switch on the dirver's door panel? If so, the problem is in the ETACS module. Here's the wiring diagram:
