How do I remove a block heater from 2009 Dodge Caliber?

Not working or not wanted? If its not working or not needed, just cut the cord off as close to the engine block as possible. Is it leaking? If it is leaking, Drain coolant and locate the heater on the engine block. There is a nut or bolt in the center of the heater that may be able to be tightened to stop the leaking. If you have to remove it, then loosen the nut or bolt and pull the heater out and replace with a "quick freeze plug" that will look similar without the element and cord, clean the opening and put in ant tighten. Some are in line with the lower radiator hose. If it is, Drain coolant and replace lower radiator hose. Some mechanics may want to tell you that a "freeze plug" has to be put in and may be costly depending on the location of the block heater. Don't forget to put coolant back in.

Block heater location in 2009 equinox. Can not find it.

Dear Deanna,
A block heater is a accessory that is only found on cars owned and driven in extremely cold area of the world.
Since there are several different kinds of block heaters, there is not "one" location that is right.
They are installed where you put them.
The instruction with the unit will tell you where to install them and how to do so.
God bless your efforts.

4l. Where is block heater located?

I dont recall them coming out with a factory block heater. If it is used, maybe the old owners put one in. If so it should be on the side of the block in one of the frost plug cavitys good luck

Block heater plug located

most gas powered cars dont come with a block heater.. you get an aftermarket unit and put it in or on somewhere.usually in the block in place of a freeze plug or you can get a magnetic one that just sticks to the block.. or there is one that hooks into the radiator hoses and works like a coffee perkolator..then if you can.. park the car in a heated garage..when its really cold outside I use a bunwarmer thats 300 watt and I flip it upside down and place it under my engine oilpan..it keeps the engine warmer for easier starting..dangerous if used wrong but it works..its a radiant type heater..has a reflector in behnd the element..this also works.. if you stop the car .. park it with the nose out of the wind..just a few degrees difference sometimes works..and change to a lighter oil in winter..it wont be as thick on startup..like glue..

I am looking for the location of the block heater plug on a 1997 Golf diesel, thanks

There is no specific spot for a block heater. A block heater can be in any location the block currently has a freeze plug in. You'll need to look over the block carefully - you will see several round "ports" on the block and one of them will have a wire coming out of it. A freeze plug looks kind of like a small dish in the block, whereas a block heater will look more like a flat plug with a wire. It could be on the side or back of your motor - rarely is there room for a block heater on the front of a motor. Look in the front grill or in the general area of the radiator and you should see one end of a male electric cord( like the end of a lamp cord you stick in the wall ) . Follow this wire to the engine and it will lead you to the location of the block heater. You will probably need an inspection mirror and a flashlight to find the other end ( in the block).
Hope this helps!

2003 duramax 2500 i need to know the location of the cord for the block heater

If it has the block heater, the heater is located on the drivers side center of engine block. You should be able to crawl underneath, and see where the heater is put in place of a freeze plug, and just follow the wires up.. Usually tucked in along the fender somewhere..
