Question about 1995 Lexus ES 300
Just got off the phone with LEXUS and the man in the Service Department @ Plaza Lexus here in the St. Louis area said that Dextron III should be used and NOT regular power steering fluid, since "the Dextron III has better conditioners and detergents to keep that system the cleanest and to keep it from dying out," he stated. Also, my Hanse manual also recommended Dextron III, which is what prompted me to call LEXUS in the first place (since I thought it weird myself, using Dextron III that is).

Power steering fluid is fairly generic. Buy a good quality brand. If the system is low, it has to be leaking somewhere. In that case use a good conditioner such as the one made by Lucas. It is the only brand name product I've ever used that has worked on a consistent basis. And, will not harm internal components.(sound like a salesman? I'm not!) No chemical will repair broken or severely worn parts, but seals can dry out and leak. Never use transmission oil in power steering. That used to be OK but is not now.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
