Battery saver light is on and the car won't start.
A couple days ago, my ignition went out on my car, (or so I thought), because my key wouldnt come out, and it would only turn back half way. Luckily, I had a spare key made to my car so i would use that to get in my car after I manually locked it. And it was good for a few days. Then one morning when I went to get into my car for work, it wouldnt start. A couple lights came on my dash that read "battery saver mode" and "engine power reduced". Then the security light came on (a little lock with a car picture flashed). And it started clicking and whining. My next thought was WTF?! So I woke my boyfriend up, we charged the car (battery is in the trunk if u didnt know) And it kinda started. The car was jumping all over and puttin and spuddering. We both knew their had to be way for the key to come out of the car, it was recognizing it was in park, and i would move the steering wheel and nothing. Well, under the steering wheel, theres a little cover, take that off, and put your finger up in that hole, you`ll feel a button, push that and your key will come right now. I started my car after that, and everything was normal!!! It still gets stuck in the ignition, but this is my temp. fix untill i get the money to get a new ignition =)
I have been going through this same thing for about 1 year now being told everything from the key cylinder(which dealership checked and was fine) to something wrong with the gear shifter(approx 300.00 to fix) by the dealership. I was told by the service tech, parts depart manager and the service manager that these cars are throw away cars. I want to take a moment to say thank you for this post and it WORKED..Needless to say I will not be fixing this problem but I will be looking for a new vechile hopefully wish ALOT less problems

When my car stops at the traffic light, the car stalls.
Hello and welcome to FixYa!
If the battery light is on, I strongly suggest that you have
the battery charged. It can be an indication of a weak battery or a faulty
alternator. If the battery light still on after charging then the problem will
surely be on the alternator itself. If that's the case the alternator should be
replaced to resolve the problem.
If the battery won't hold charge even on a new alternator
then the problem will be on the battery itself. It surely is in the end of it's
service life and replacement will be necessary.
You may try to reset it to by removing the positive battery
connector, letting it sit for at least 5mins. then reconnect it again. This
will reset the system and can get the battery light off.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
