If you are having to bang the battery cables that is where the problem is you have a bad connection either in your connections or you have bad terminals install new ones another thing is you may have to put anti freezing liquid into your gas tank to keep from gelling and you may want to park in a garage it helps a little.

I have 99 chev pu 4.3 just put new head gaskets on .now I can not get the timing cam retard off -22.whats wrong.everything was set at top dead center.dist lines up on mark 6 inside it. Help

the book shows chev 4.3 L is a v6 chain driven and the valve timing is correct when the two dots line up with each other
if it is the ignition timing that you are talking about you are probably 180 degrees out in the distributor setting
no 1 piston firing lines the rotor button up at no one HT lead and not no 6
all engines regardless are timed of no piston tdc and chev engines are around the 12 degrees btdc for operation

Where does a cold start sit on a chev spark 0.8 2008 and can that cause it not to start?

sounds like it needs a good tuneup, and maybe a battery! most cars start in about 5-10 seconds, even on a cold morning.if all is ok. good-day!

Recently bought a 99 CR-V. Had it tuned up and fixed almost everything. Runs very smoothly. One remaining problem is engine going dead while driving or just won't start after parking. Dash lights flicker...

Old post.
same here, there is only 2 paths (besides wild $$$ guessing)
1: yes, do scan it, if the tool goes dead (comms down) the ECU lost 12vdc power. (the CEL goes dead to , just key on, if no power to ECU/PCM.
2: or diagnose the no start.

what is flicker?, the dash lights come on key on to tell you power is ok and all things running them thinks they are happy,
some cars have immobilzers, and it does flicker at IMMO mode.
blocking you.
be specific on lights. what lights to what.
the operators guide is free, and shows each light.

I have a 2003 F550 7.3 diesel dump truck. First thing in the morning it doesn't want to start. When it finally starts, it runs very rough shaking all over, like it is running on 2 cylinders. After it runs...

Believe it or not. if a manual trans. with a dual mass flywheel if it is bad it will bounce around when cold and will cause false injector contribution codes and make the engine run rough until warm. Or a icp solenoid bad .

1989 Chev PU , Aircon Dead , Want to Convert

Anyone can convert R12 to R134. It is as simple as screwing the two adapters on the low side and high side charging ports. Now to charge it you need to evacuate it as you said and then charge the system with R134. The hardest part is finding the way to evacuate and then recharge the system without going to a repair facility.

Will not start, everything dead

The correct soluation to any automotive problem is a correct diagnosis. In your case, this is exactly what is needed, not heresay or by guess or by golly. I am not being smart about this, it's just that I have spent 35 years as a professinal auto technitian and have seen this situation time and time again.

If you are not able to do the diagnosis your self, you need the help of someone who can do a hands on diagnosis for you.
1. Start at the battery. Do not replace as a meanings of repairing. Verify. If the battery has power, then begin to look at the cables, and then look at fuseable links. These are heavy wires coming off the battery that act as fuses. They burn on the inside of the wire, but many times one can not tell unless they they them with a 12 volt circuit tester.

When using a 12 volt circuit tester, follow the power trail. Start at the battery and determine where it is and where it is not.

This is a start, and I hope it works.
