Its funny you're bringing this up - I'm currently testing a standard wiper blade with the conventional frame on my passenger side and a new frameless beam blade on my driver's side and I just returned home from a snowy 700 mile trip from Wisconsin to Upper Michigan. I litterally had to stop and smash and remove the ice out of the conventional frame where as on the other I didn't.

You have two options here: Winter Blades or Beam Blades. Winter Blades are primarily conventional blades with a rubber boot over the frame which prevents clogging and stiffening. Beam blades cut-to-the-chase and simply are void of the frame all together. Beam blades are billed as "all weather" and will replace Winter Blades over time as they become more prevalent.

When replacing your wipers, make sure you use an application guide at the store or online you can google something like 'lookup wiper size'. Its important that you not only get the correct length but the correct attachment and looking them up is what you need to do.

Installation usually takes 2-15 minutes and normally requires few or no tools.

Wiper is good on back windsheld of 2003 Rondezvous and only wipes part of the window unless i press the wiper

it's mostly because of the shape of the glass and the wiper's intent to remain straight and rigid. a new blade will fix the problem but because of the rounded bend in the glass it won't last forever. once the blade dries out it will straighten and then it will be time for a new blade again. Walmart, Advance, and Oriely's are the 3 plaes I have seen the back window wipers at and all of those places had a reasonable price on them too.

How to replace window blades?

It depends on which style of wiper arm you have. Most auto parts stores will install new wiper blades free - just ask them when you go in to buy.Don't buy the cheapest blades - you get what you pay for! I personally buy Bosch blades - being winter, I get the winter blades. Wiper blades are meant to last only 3 months and the life will be greatly shortened if you have tree sap or chemicals on the glass. Scrape the glass with a razor blade then clean with an alcohol based window cleaner and make sure you wipe the new blades with the alcohol wipe they come with, as most all blades have a chemical coating to delay rubber decay during shipping and pre - sale storage and this coating can cause streaking on your window. You may want to clean your existing blades with alcohol if they wipe good but streak or cause hazing on the windshield. Hope this helps and please rate my solution!!

2002 ford crown vic. driver side wiper not working? passenger side works

the linkage between the wiper motor and the wiper arms needs to be replaced. the stud on the one side is stripped and that is why it doesn't work as it should. this happens usually when the wipers are left on in the winter with the blades freezing to the windsheild. turn on the car with frozen blades tends to strip out the teeth holding the wiper arms onto the linkage

We live in the midwest and our wipers freeze down and we can't use them till they thaw. id there a drain hole plugged or something? it is a poor design to say the least. Gee maybe we should trade for a...

I have a 2002 Grand Marquis and had a 1994 Crown Vic. I used them in Michigan. There are several things you can try, and I rarely have a problem.

1.Your wiper blades may be hitting the trim on the bottom of the windshield. Try to remove and reinstall each stalk(at base) the next notch up to clear the trim and stay on the glass when off.
2.Use a better grade windshield wiper wash to melt the ice..
3.Use a Winter wiper blade which has a rubber sleeve on it to prevent icing. This may be all you need if you do not want to reposition the blades as in #1.

Rear wiper doesn't press hard enough

I had a similar problem on my Jeep. I tried replacing the blades and it didn't fix anything....just wasted some money. I used WD-40 and still nothing. After 3 winters I decided to try something simple. I put pressure on the base to brace it and tried bending the distal end towards the vehicle. I didn't see it move at all. But it was worth a shot. I turned it on and it contacted perfectly; it operated the way it was when I first got the truck. Good look and I hope this works for you nor is it too late since you posted 2 months ago.
