97 ACHIEVA INTERIOR LAMPS STAYS ON WHEN DRIVEING

From 2001 Chevy Venture manual:

This switch is located in the overhead console switchbank. Press the symbol on the bottom of the switch to override control of the interior lamps and turn off power to the courtesy lamps, reading lamps, visor vanity lamps (if equipped) and glove box lamp. This feature allows you to have the lamps off when any door is open. Press the top of the interior lamps override switch to turn power back on to the interior lamps. This will allow the lamps to stay on when any door is open.

I have a 97 olds achieva and the headlights stay on all the time. It's just how the car works..

to replace drive belt rotate tensioner pulley clockwise then slip on new belt look under hood on the radiator shroud for drivebelt routing diagram.check drive belt tensioner for damage or looseness because very seldom drive break either cracked worn or drivebelt tensioner faulty.

needs more info dose water boil after awhile or as soon as you start the car or do you have to drive for awhile
here are some thing to check. check and make sure your fan are working then check and make sure you do not have any leakes in the coolant system

did you check the switch? (dash light dimmer)

I had a problem with a 97 Achieva recently.Someone else replaced the PCM/ignition switch and passlock sensor.I replaced the ICP.Engine would turn over but wouldn't start and the security lamp was dim and flashing and then it would go solid.I tried the wait 10 minutes thing but,the light would never go off! I put the original passlock sensor back onto the lock cylinder. But this is what fixed the problem.I cleaned the contacts on the black wires and green on the ignition switch with tv tuner cleaner! After I cleaned those contacts the security light was flashing brightly.So I turned the key to run and left it there.After a few minutes it stayed on solid.I waited about 10 minutes but the light never went out.So I turned off the switch and then tried starting.It started right up and the security lamp flashed and then went off.Has started every time since.Note:I also scraped the pins that I cleaned with the cleaner with a knife.

Engine light stays on, low coolant light stays on , recently had a plastic housing replaced that was leaking, it was linked to thermostat, tranmission coolant,heater ect. Had the thermostat replaced also. Level of coolant is fine, does't overheat anymore, but now the starter wants to spin a couple of times and then it starts. The car has no rust, would like to hang on to it

First check to see that the brake light are working, the park lockout solenoid is powered by the brake switch.

I would go to to autozone or advance and run and obd 2 scan. this is free so you can see what codes are coming up. I hope its not your alternator
