If you hook injector wires in wrong sequence they will cause problems.

How do you know #5 is running rich? error codes tell you that? I doubt it. But if you are sure, check the connections and the wire all the way back to the Ecu. my wild guess, the control is shorted to a positive supply and therefore the injector thinks it is supposed to supply wide open fuel. Or you have a bad ecu that is telling it the same thing.

Disconnect the fuel return line at the fuel rail and monitor your fuel pressure when the ignition switch is cycled to the run position several times WITHOUT starting the engine. Connect a hose to the rail to allow fuel to drain and not spray all over the back of the engine. If your fuel pressure is high (60psi or higher) it will show that you have a defective fuel pressure regulator , or debris in the fuel rail causing a blockage of fuel flow. If the pressure is normal with the return line disconnected it suggests the fuel return line is plugged up between the engine and tank or in the tank. Your issue is that you are Running extremely rich, hence your O2 reading .

My 1994 Cadillac Seville is running excessively rich.


I guess my first question would be, is the check engine light on ?
If the fuel system is too rich the O2 sensors should be reporting that to the computer. There could be a trouble code that would point you in the direction of the problem.
Otherwise, it could be a weak injector, or a wiring problem that is keeping one or more injectors grounded.
Are all of the spark plugs fuel fouled ?
No problems with the air filter and intake ?

A rich codes is hard to get. Something is restricting the airflow or you have something wrong with the fuel control. Check the air filter and if it is good. I would wonder if you have a leaking fuel injector. Do you know how to do a cylinder drop test? How well does it idle? Does it smell of raw fuel at idle? Is it hard to start after sitting?

91 chevy 4.3 v-6 runs extremely rich when engine is cold gives codes 13, 33 and 54 I know what these codes are but I need to know is could the computer coolant temp sensor or the air cleaner temp sensor...


DTC - 13 Oxygen sensor circuit open or no activity
DTC - 33 MAP sensor circuit error (signal high indicating low vacuum)
DTC - 54 Fuel pump circuit low voltage

Start with checking the wire leads to the O2 sensors and MAP sensor. Look for any damages to the wire harness and replace any parts damaged or faulty.

The O2 and MAP sensor take reading and sends it to the ECM to recalibrate the fuel injector pulse to adjust the amount of fuel entering the cylinders. When there is an issue to the O2 sensor or MAP sensor and even both, the ECM will be set a a factory default to run rich to keep the engine running and at times the engine may not even run. Normal fuel to air ratio is 14.7:1 - 14.7 air to 1 parts fuel and at default it could be as high as 12.5:1. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your truck running 100% again soon and please rate. replacing the thermostat and temperature sensor would also be a good thing since the 4.3 runs best at 190".
