Question about 1990 Honda Civic

1 Answer

Car is hard to get started, it hesitates up to 3,000 rpm's and acts fine just as loong as its above that. once it goes under 3,000 rpm's, it hesitates and dies, and very hard to start again.

You will need a computer to accurately read the signals you are getting from the sensors in the engine bay, but my guess is that the MAF sensor may be acting up.

2003 Mitsubishi lancer 2.0 ralliart. Complete loss of power under wide open throttle between 2,000 - 3,000 rpm. Car idles fine and continues accelerating after 3,000 rpm under wide open throttle just fine....

oxygen sensors buddy, and there is two of them. one above the engine and under. you have to cut it enough to where you can splice and re wire another sensor on.

The car hesitates when idling or stopped at light/ stop sign, and the rpm drops to zero then goes back up.

The battery was a red herring - it would not have anything to do with the problem.
Faulty spark plugs could cause a miss but probably not make the engine stall.
What you described is a classic example of a faulty idle air control valve or a dirty throttle body. The computer controls idle speed by regulating how much air enters the intake. It opens the control valve to raise idle speed when necessary.
I would check the control valve and the throttle body.

At what speeds should you shift gears in a 1999 Mazda B2500?

Shifting is determined more accurately by rpm's not speed. If you have a tach in the car, run the motor up to where you feel performance "flatten out" Regard that as your max rpm (for all gears) shift as needed about 500-700 below that number and all will be fine. (example: if motor flattens out at 3500 rpm, you should be shifting at 3,000 rpm or if not accelerating hard, at 2,800.) Going above the limit (shifting later) puts you outside the useful torque range and is not helpful.
