You only have one heater core and its located up front. If you smell it in the back its all the same vent system.

Heater cores are usually less than 50 bucks but the cost to install varies depending on who does it. Best bet is it call for an estimate,
No recall on this issue

Smell of antifreeze and heater blowing cold air in my 97 eclipse

Check heater core location for leakage. If no heat is coming out when you have the temp set to hot, chances are you have a blocked heater core. If you smell antifreeze from heater fan, you may have a leak in the box that contains the heater core. Your windows may fog up too, if you keep the heater on for a bit, but this happens more often if the air coming out is warm, or hot. Hope this helps!

How to check for leaks of antifreeze/in 97 expedition smell of antifreeze

Hi Sharlene,so you smell antifreeze.Raise your hood and check your antifreeze over flow container, you should have a l and a h mark on it,high and low.If low, then it's leaking somewhere, look at the radiator cap and overflow hose for leak, look at over flow container for leak from hose going to it from radiator, look all over engine, look at top and bottom radiator hoses and clamps for leaks,if leaking there, tighten clamp with flat head screw driver,if no leak is found, get under vehicle and see if any antifreeze is visible, maybe water pump, look on ground for leak and follow, check floor board on driver side, heater core could be bad, check hoses going to heater core from engine firewall.

Have an antifreeze leak coming from either the heater coil or back of the motor not really sure.

I'm pretty sure if it were the heater core, you would have antifreeze soaking your carpet, and the inside of your car would smell of antifreeze. Your inside windows would also fog up when you turn on the heater.

I smell antfreeze when turning a corner in my 1996 Chev s-10 w/ 4.3. No visible leaks and no over heating. Help?

I would first check in the cab on the floor just under the heater to make sure there isn't any antifreeze leaking there. Check the resovour and make sure is isn't over full. If leaking in the cab the heater core is bad. You may have to drop the heater core housing which is not very easy. Check around the heater hoses very carefully for any slight leaks. Good luck.

1998 Expedition: 2000 Ford Expedition I smell antifreeze with heate...

If you smell antifreeze it may be 3 possibilities: 1. you may have a leaking hose/hose connector , or water pump. 2. your heater core is bad and needs replaced. Unless you know what you are doing I would highly suggest taking to dealer for heater core replacement. The dash and steering colum has to be removed to get to the heater core. This is not an easy job believe me (about-900-1200 job). If you have your heater core replaced then also replace the climate control door. This is good preventative maintenance and also a a dollar saver. I would have a pressure check run on your radiator as a first thought. All you may have is a bad hose and that can easily be replaced.

Will not heat. I smell antifreeze inside. Thermostats been changed, new antifreeze added.

If you smell antifreeze in the cabin then it could be a hose loose or the heater core has a leak/pressure leak - in which case get it looked at ASAP because it could lead to overheating of the engine.

Check the hoses going to the heater core and make sure they are not cracked or disfigured and are on tight. Any moisture near or on the core (and/or corresponding corrosion) is an indication the hoses are ot doing there job or the core is leaking.

BTW, If you are loosing coolant (due to a faulty heater core) it could "explode" (relax, you are basically safe on the other side of the dash-board), but the result could be a destroyed heater core and a very expensive repair bill - I know because its happened to me!

It isn't heating correctly and i smell antifreeze. How do I check and replace a heater core in it?

If your heater core was leaking you would have antifeeze coming thru your vents and putting a greasy film on your windshield. You would smell antifreeze the stongest if it was leaking onto a hot engine part. low antifreeze will cause bad heater performance, I would check by the thermostate housing, and the water pump for leaks

Antifreeze smell and smoke coming out of vents

You have a coolant leak most likely in the heater core. Try disconnecting your heater hoses and coupling them together, then running the engine to see if the leak goes away. If it does, I would have the heater core replaced.

2002 Diamnte does not defrost, smells like antifreeze

If you are smelling antifreeze then there is going to be a leak.
Look at the drain hole for the A/C drain pan. You may not be seeing it because it is mixing with the condensation from the evaporator. Sounds like a heater core or hose connection at the heater core.
Good Luck
