Allow the engine to cool down before attempting this replacement. This would minimize loss of coolant.

1. You need to replace the temperature-sending unit, also.
2. Use a 17-mm deep socket and wrench to unscrew the temperature-sending unit. It is located to the right of the thermostat housing with electrical wire plug.
3. Reverse this proceedure for installation.

No heat fans blows cold air

Hi washington..... When the fan blows cold air the first thing to do is change the thermostat under the hood which is in the hose leading from the radiator. This is an inexpensive part available at all autoparts stores. In fact, if you call around some auto parts stores will loan you the tools and even help you change it. Joe

Thanks for choosing fixya!

PS Here is a step by step set of detailed instructions should you choose to do this repair yourself. http://www.ehow.com/way_5369224_buick-thermostat-replacement-instructions.html

Bmw 523i se heater blows hot and cold

Sounds like a thermostat sticking. Some things to do. First check coolant level is up and moving. Second (most likely), change thermostat. Very easy fix for backyard mechanic. Make sure to put thermostat in so water flow is correct direction. Look for arrow on side of thermostat. Next, is belt to water pump loose. Another easy fix in most cars.

Overheating and heater not work

there is a valve on the water pump and one on the thermostat housing open those up one at a time until you get a little bit of antifreeze come out then tighten them back up. All you will be doing is bleeding the air out of the cooling system. my car was doing the same thing after I changed my thermostat.
