The AWD system is in front-drive during normal driving conditions, the Vibe applies power to the front wheels only. This is done to improve fuel efficiency. There's no center differential (therefore no all-wheel drive), just a viscous coupling at the input to the rear axle. In the event of slippage at one of the front wheels, the viscous coupling in the rear differential quickly reapportions up to 50 percent of the engine's torque to the rear wheels. All of this happens automatically and is virtually imperceptible to the driver.

Have a great day.

Why does the all-wheel drive keep disengaging when you need it?

Is the All-Wheel Drive Disabled Indicator on ?
An ABS DTC may cause the AWD Disabled light to illuminate. Check for ABS DTCs if no AWD fault is present.

?€¢
The AWD data list can be used to assist in determining which type of fault is causing the AWD Disabled Lamp to illuminate. with a scan tool, verify the above data displays are within specification.
?‡'
AWD temperature disables can be caused by an open circuit.

Using a scan tool, select the Body - Instrument Panel Cluster - Special Functions - Lamp Test mode. In the Lamp Test mode you can turn on or off the instrument panel indicators. All indicators will turn ON when commanded on and OFF when commanded off. The AWD DISABLE indicator should turn on or off as commanded.
?‡'
If the AWD DISABLE indicator is always ON or always OFF, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

The AWD disable lamp illuminates when one of the following conditions exists for 5 seconds:
?€¢
The PCM commands the solenoid ON and the voltage feedback remains high, B+.

?€¢
The PCM commands the solenoid OFF and the voltage feedback remains low, 0 volts. This condition is present for 3 key cycles.

?€¢
The PCM detects fluid temp is too high.

You need to have this hooked-up to a professional grade scan tool.

How many quarts of transmission fluid does the Pontiac vibe hold

The 2006 Pontiac Vibe will have a little bit different amount of transmission fluid needed depending on whether or not it has All-Wheel-Drive. With AWD it will need 3.1 quarts (2.9 liters). Without AWD it needs 3.2 quarts (3.0 liters).

2006 Mountaineer 4x4 light on awd stuck.

Have a shop diagnose the problem if you
have not purchased the factory diagnostic
manuals from Helm.Com
Don't know why you would think fluid change on
any part of the vehicle would do a thing
Have you not checked for codes
That is always the first thing you do even
without a MIL lamp on.

2006 vibe air bag light on no codes in system and light will go out with code reset and back on with next key cycle

Possibly one of connectors are loose. Look in your manual for the locations. Some are found near the kick panel under the dash and are yellow in color. Do not seperate the connectors, just squeeze them together to make sure the connection is tight. good luck!

there isn't one it resets on its own. If its not reseting you have a bad pressure sensor on one of the wheels.
