Question about 1991 Honda Civic
Check the seal on the trunk, could be on the lid or the body of the car, take a piece of regular blackboard chalk and using the side of the chalk mark the entire seal, close the trunk, then open and look at where the seal is not making contact, inspect the seal in that location to see if it needs to be remounted or replaced.
