Question about 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe

Ok, 2003 chevy tahoe. truck is shuting off every so often

But starts right back up. noticed that the oil gage is pegged at 80. will this make truck shut down?

Yes ,the engine would had a great pressure inside check as soon as you can the oil level and have it fix ,before it gets worse.

The oil pressure sending unit works on resistance if the sender gets hot the resistance value may be out of spec causing the gauge to go to full. or you could have a loose or bad connection causing the resistance to go High.this may why it only happens on long trips.

My oil presure is pegged to the max on my 2003 tahoe...

Oil pressure sensor is located in the valley of engine behind back of engine you can get it out with a thin walled oil sender socket. This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Oil pressure gage pegs 80 psi

Likely your oil pressure sending unit has failed or the wire has grounded.
