My battery gauge fluctuates when the rpms are high and between gears if i dont shift soon enough. All lights inside also dim. I had the alternator tested and its ok. Battery is new. Any ideas of what it could be??

This usually indicates the battery has a shorted cell. Here is how you can test it. With the engine not running, take a digital voltmeter set to volts function and read the battery voltage. It should read at least 12.3 volts. If the first two digits are 11, then your battery is bad. If you show a battery voltage over 12.3 volts, then you probably have a bad alternator. Beyond that, I need more details, like, does the engine crank ok? Are headlights dim when engine is stopped? What does "battery gauge very high" mean? What is the make of the vehicle?
was not uncommon to read this way on some GM products. Its ok. Now if the head lights pulsing while engine is running Alternator is going bad. Should have alt replaced and Battery checked. There are Diodes in the alt and when 1 or 2 go bad the pulse you see is alternating(AC) currant going through you direct current (DC) system. Can mess up a battery if not cought soon enough
like I see the problem ,the most common is belt not tight enough or alternator or battery with a voltmeter check the battery voltage more then 13 volts. test battery with a load test
Alternator. Have it tested with a voltmeter while on the car and running. Or take it off and have it tested. The current to run the car and the accessories is from the alternator when the engine is running. The battery light coming on alerts you that the alternator is not doing its job.
start the car but do not drive it. look at the belt when it is running. if belt hops around then the tensioner is bad and not holding belt tight enough. or the belt itself may be bad. alo check for a bad idler pully for the belt.
These are all classic symptoms of a failing alternator and a car running off the battery. If the alternator and battery test good then you have a loose of broken wire in the charging circuit. When you get the alternator tested make sure they take a reading with everything electrical turned on in the car to make sure the alternator still produces. Sometimes a diode will fail inside and while it may charge good normally, it won't when it has to produce extra power. Hope this helps.
If the lights go dim while driving then the charging lights should come on and that means either the relay is braking down or the regulator in the Alternator is braking down .
Its quicker and cheeper to get it checked out by a elect shop than buying a Alternator and still having the problem after, as the alternator should charge about 13.5 volts while running.. Ron
If the noise sounds like a weeeeeee that increases in pitch as the RPMs increase, and you haven't heard this sound before the 'problem', suspect the alternator...
we had the same problem there is a small line that connects itno the alternator, it kept jiggling loose. we found a way to tighten it and the problem went away
