Someone cut out the air conditioner in my 80's model vw jetta and i need to know what to hook up to make the heater work

Mainly make sure that you have vacuum hooked up going to the heater control head in the dash, that is what makes the different blend doors open and close.

Why does my jetta a/c work the not work


Happy New Year. My name is Phil. My heater for my VW Jetta 1999 2.0 automatic doesn't work. The blower works but not hot air. Blows dirt and part of foam. Did I need a new heater? Or is there something else wrong? Also a clagging sound when I turn the car on but once the car is warmed up the clagging sound stops. The car runs good but worry about the clagging sound. Thanks.

I have a 1997 VW Jetta VR6 the condensation from the air conditioner collects and then drains into the floor boards. Where is the drain plug located for the air conditioner condensation reservoir?


There is a drain, usually on the firewall, which allows that condensation do drop on the ground. Usually easy to get at if the car is up on a hoist. These get plugged with debris all of the time. Most garages will clean it out for a very nominal charge, or you can try to find it yourself, and insert a very short piece of wire in the tube( you don't ant to puncture the evaporater, or heater core) and clear the debris. You need to have someone with VW smarts poke around for one. There are three different styles, each mounted in a different location. Backside of the engine, or glued to the oilpan, or in a coolant line.

You may not be full of refrigerant... There is a low pressure switch that prevents the AC from actuating the clutch, and the reason is: IF there is not enough refrigerant, you will not be able to move oil through the system and you will have major damage...so no engauge...

Get the system checked, most likely there is a leak somewhere..

Hi there, I have a 1990 Volkswagen Jetta Flair 2. I've had the car for about a year now and overall it's been an excellent car for it's age. However, there's always something that needs to be fixed and lately I've had throttle response problems. I do not have any mechanical backround, so I will describe it as best as I can. For one, it seems apparent this is an issue when the engine is cold (or not sitting in the sun all day). I will put the foot down, and it won't respond until it gets to about 3000rpm (right around when I'm thinking about changing gears), and then it rocket ships forward. Before it finally responds, there's a lot of shaking going on in the engine bay. It doesn't sound pleasant either. I took it in for an oil change, and they put fuel injector in it and it seemed to be a temporary solution. Whatever the case, there's a poor connection between me putting the throttle down and the car responding to the action. I do rev it up before I get going, but it's kind of futile. So as a result, I have a tendency to stall in first gear at low speeds as the gas doesn't react when I want it to, and the clutch is usually released by that point. After about 5-10 minutes of constant driving, it will accelerate smoothly. If you can point me in the right direction, whether it's "fuel" related, or it's some sort of heat sensor (I have no idea what I'm talking about), let me know if you've had similar experiences. All my repairs have cost me less than a 100 each time, I want to keep it that way.
