White smoke usually indicates the engine is burning oil or its burning coolant. when the engine is cold remove the radiator cap and start the vehicle, if it immediately begins to blow air and or coolant from the radiator you most likely have a blown head gasket, if not then remove the oil cap and feel for air coming out. if it blows kinda like a hair dryer then you most likely have a piston ring issue and you are burning oil. either way you may be looking at major surgery to repair.

If the white smoke is coming out of the exhaust pipe it could be a blown head gasket. Check the engine oil, if it looks milky then there is water in the oil.

2008 Hilux 2.5 d4d, 2kd engine. Why does it belch blue smoke and shake a lot?

Blue smoke is indicative of burning oil, and the heavy shaking is showing that it's not firing properly on all cylinders. Check your oil levels and see if they have gotten low. Check your plugs and see if they are fouled or vaporized. It is likely you've got oil leaking into your cylinders, and that it is being burned during normal engine operation. If your plugs are fouled, replace them. If your plugs are fouled AND your oil is depleting, you're going to have to change out the gaskets in your engine, and I would also recommend you run fuel system / total engine cleaning and conditioning fluid (like SeaFoam) through your engine.

Take a compression test on # 4. It may be a little oil burning w coolant getting by the head gasket. POSSIBLE faulty injector or not firing on time. Ck for any oil in the anti freeze or anti freeze in the oil.

Instead of the marvel oil I would change the oil and filter and add one quart of Lucas oil additive as it will help coat the cylinder walls and reduce the oil consumption. You may also want to replace the PCV valve on top of the valve cover as a sticky PCV valve could be causing internal pressure to build up in the engine and cause oil to leak past the piston rings.

I believe your engine is at the end of the road

White smoke is an indication of coolant in the

If Biggy1 has described it right, I think when you remove the WIRE to the spark plug ( not the plug itself ) and oil jumps out, there is a cylindrical seal that needs replacing and one does not need to even remove the cylinder head.
I have the same problem with my corolla. On the other hand if Biggy meant when removing the SPARK PLUG oil was on the contacts....

If you remove thermostat water will circulate too fast and will not cool down, replace thermostat and check if your fan is turning in correct direction. Also make sure your ignition timing is ok. I found on some vehicles the waterpump seems ok but when vehicle starts heating up the impeller gets loose on the shaft. Check your brakes if they are not binding.

Smoke from exhaust... toyota rav4 1996

Welcome to FIXYA

There in only 1 thing i can think of where the white smoke is from it could be anitfreeze if so it would mean a cracked head or a bad head gasket if it gets worse then you have a big problem but if you check the water level and it looks fine then you should be ok for a while

if it was black smoke or a real dark gray then it would be oil

i hope this helps you out have a good day
