No power to fuel pump on 96 ford explorer

Check the fuel pump relay. It's located in the relay box under the hood on the drivers side.

How can you tell if your car has jumped time? I have a 1998 buick park ave. that tries to start but wont.

check fuel filter and make sure its not clogging up, make sure the engine is getting fuel, have someone go under the car where the fuel tank is and have them listen when you turn the key to on to see if there is any sound coming from in the fuel tank, if not, then you may have burnt out the fuel pump. Fuel pumps are Great for randomly going out at a moments notice. those GM v6 engines dont jump time easily so it more than likely wont be that.

Turns over acts like it string to start just doesn't

Try pushing the automatic fuel shut off button located on the left side of the steering wheel or in the glove compartment If that doesnt work then you should make sure the fuel pump is pumping fuel by listening for it to power on when you turn your ignition key

When ignition is on then starter is engaged gas stops flowing through fuel filter

Sounds like the fuel pump has went bad...the fuse first it may be blown and if this is not the case the you can turn the key on but dont try to start it,just trun it on and listen for a humming noise in the gas tank.maybe have someonelisten around gas tank while you turn the key. if you hear nothing then this would indicate that fuel pump is not working..Best way to find out is have a pressure test run on fuel system. Car does not have to run to preform this test...I alway just do the listen way and it hasent failed me yet.....hope this info helps and if so Please rate my post and good luck...if more help is needed fill free to contact me .....

2002 alero turns over wont stay started sudden problem

It sounds like it may be the fuel pump. Have someone turn the ignition key to the 'On' position (don't start car) and listen to hear if you have a whining coming from your fuel tank. If not, your pump is bad. If that's not the culprit, then check your gas. You may have had a bad fill up. Try adding some octane boost to your gas and changing your fuel filter.

Car won't start sounds like not getting gas..fuel pump? it's not battery, can't jump it off

I agree with you that there is not fuel to the engine.Fuel pump can still work but not delivering fuel because fuel filter is dirty. To check if fuel pump is turning on, listen to the fuel pump for 8 sec for priming at the time your ignition key is at on position, not the start position. After that it will be off until you start cranking. Have a helper stand near the gas tank to hear the pump. If there is not fuel pump sound, then it is a bad pump. If there is pump sound then it is a dirty fuel filter.

My explorer ran out of gas, i filled it up to about a half a tank, now it just turns over but wont start

if it's fuel injected, look on the fuel rail for a schrader valve--looks just like a valve stem on a tire but shorter.remove cap, again just like on a tire.turn key to on-push valve stem in as if to let air out if you get air, then gasoline, you have just bled the system.replace cap, start car.if you get no gas, remove gas tank cap, turn on key, listen for ""hum'' of fuel hum, check fuel pump.modern[plastic] fuel pumps will self destruct if run dry, even for a short time.
