Do the dash warning lamps also stay on? If so a relay is sticking, Not sure on that model where they are located, but usually by drivers side foot well and under bonnet. Testing relays without experience is best left to an Auto Electrician. If you can identify relays then gently tap each one by flicking with your finger may narrow it down. (With key off)

SOURCE: 95 F150 wont crank

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.

SOURCE: Erratic shifting on 2001 f150 pickup

How many miles on it? Do you mean overdrive? Over drive will clunk when shifting in cruise. Mine lasted 212,000 miles but I have heard of them going out after 120,000, depends how you drive. That Traney is good till it starts acting up then you will need a complete overhaul. I got it done for $1800. Do not go to a Ford dealer, they quoted me $3200.

Maybe an ecu problem, my buddies F150 did this, its a sensor that has to do with the transmission, not sure if this is the same issue, it cuts fuel off, and then shuts the vehicle down, then it can randomly start depending on how the truck reads it at any given time. I can ask him further of what the issue is again....I'll get back to you.

no not a fuel filter problem, that just causes a lack of power, u have the symptoms of a failing ignition control module (located on the outside of the distributor) and distributor pickup ( located on the inside of the distributor)

There is a linkage in the steering column which interlocks with the ignition switch. On a vehicle this age, and given that Ford is prone to this problem, look here first. The pot-metal linkage rod often breaks.
