2000 Cougar - Car hesitates, acts like no gas getting to it,

Car hesitates, acts like no gas getting to it, wiper blades stop in the middle of the window when turned off and the check engine light comes on. We have had the breaks, struts, oil pan fixed, along with replacing the alternator, coils, O2 sensor, wiper motor, . The engine light goes off for the mechanics, we drive it less than a day and the check engine light comes back on. It is a really rough ride.

thanks for the info, we had the multi function wiper switch replaced, we'll see if that works, so far so good, as for the engine light on, we have been told that was done. Will double check with our mechanic and get back with you. Again thanks, kd

You may need to use a high octane gas to clean your injectors and replace the inline gas filter as this should cure the problem. On the wiper blades that is more than likeley the relay switch that is connected to them it should be located near the firewall on the driverside.

Wipers don't work in high speed and when intermittent wipers are set they stop in the middle of the windshield.

Yes that is likely a switch problem. Before you buy any parts have a shop confirm my guess.

Wipers wont work

check the fuses if they are ok then the wiper motor could be bad check out all of the wires first give these websites a try and if all fail stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your car wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

95 mercedes c220. Wiper hesitates and sometimes stops midway. Seems if I lubricate under the gasket, it works for a while and then returns to hesitation. How and what do I need to do to correct?

Take the cover off at the base of the wiper arm. There is a mechanical mechanism under there that causes the wiper to move out and in as it swings back and forth. Most likely it needs lubricated under there. Dont use w d 40 as it wont last long. Use a lightweight grease like silglyde, and coat all the moving surfaces. I did this to mine and havent had to touch it again for several years.

2000 mercury cougar hesitating/jerking

I had the same kind of problem and I ended up solving it by actually checking for recalls for the 2000 Cougar and when you do, you'll see that there is a fuel pump recall. I dont' know if you've already done this but I figured i'd post this and try and help out!

Much luck

First, disconnect neg battery cable 10 minutes and reattach to clear codes.
Lean condition means it is not getting same fuel as other side of engine.
Since you had it scanned before, try Autozone to see if new results.
You might try a TPS switch which regulates spark and fuel feed. At lower speeds EGR starts to open-you should have code for a problem there.
